Build-A-Bear Workshop is a globally recognized specialty retailer known for providing a fun, memorable, and interactive retail experience centered around customized stuffed animals. The company prides itself on creating a warm, inclusive atmosphere where guests of all ages can personalize their own plush toys, making it a beloved destination for families and individuals alike. With locations across various retail settings including indoor and outdoor malls, strip centers, and other shopping venues, Build-A-Bear Workshop combines a unique shopping experience with outstanding guest service. The company is committed to fostering a positive environment for both its guests and employees, promoting the core values of teamwork, responsibility, and exceptional customer care.
The Sales Lead position at Build-A-Bear Workshop is a dynamic and pivotal role that acts as a role model Bear Builder with additional leadership responsibilities as a Floor Leader on Duty during designated shifts. This hybrid role requires the Sales Lead to balance direct guest engagement with supervisory duties, guiding and supporting the team to ensure smooth operations and the achievement of sales goals. When not acting as Floor Leader, the Sales Lead performs as a Bear Builder, delivering top-quality guest service and maintaining the store's operational standards. The role emphasizes modeling Experience First behaviors, a key aspect of Build-A-Bear’s customer service philosophy that focuses on providing a memorable and positive shopping experience for every guest.
As Floor Leader on Duty, the Sales Lead serves as an example to other associates by providing exceptional guest service and ensuring that the store operates efficiently toward meeting its sales targets. They lead by example in guest interactions, team collaboration, and adherence to brand standards. Additionally, the Sales Lead is responsible for communicating performance and compliance issues to the management team, supporting overall store management efforts and contributing to a constructive and high-performing workplace culture.
The Bear Builder responsibilities include actively engaging with guests through the Experience First Make Behaviors, creating an inviting and inclusive store atmosphere, and consistently upholding operational excellence. The Sales Lead must exhibit reliability, engagement, and teamwork, showing a strong commitment to their role and the team’s success. The position demands flexibility in scheduling, including availability to work days, evenings, weekends, and holidays, as well as the ability to handle physical demands such as standing, sitting, moving for the shift duration, and lifting items over 25 pounds.
This role offers a pay range of $20.51 to $21.00 per hour, reflecting the importance of the Sales Lead in supporting store performance and creating outstanding guest experiences. Build-A-Bear Workshop values associates who thrive in dynamic environments, demonstrate initiative and self-direction, and possess excellent judgment even in challenging situations. The Sales Lead position is ideal for individuals passionate about retail, guest service, and leadership, who seek growth in a supportive and fun work environment.
