Job Description

Cobb County Government proudly offers a rewarding opportunity for a Part-Time Program Leader to join the Austell Senior Center team. This vibrant government-operated community center is dedicated to enhancing the quality of life for older adults by providing enriching programs, social activities, and essential support services. The center has a strong commitment to fostering community engagement and promoting healthy, active lifestyles among senior residents. As a respected local government entity, Cobb County ensures a collaborative, inclusive working environment that values diversity and equal employment opportunities.

The Part-Time Program Leader role at the Austell Senior Center is ideal for an energetic and compassionate individual eager to contribute to community programming designed specifically for senior adults. The position is part-time, offering approximately 29 hours per week, Monday through Friday, with scheduling flexibility between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. The exact hours will be finalized upon job offer. This role plays a critical part in supporting and enhancing the programming efforts of the center, ensuring activities are both engaging and responsive to the needs of the senior community.

In this role, the Part-Time Program Leader assists in planning, developing, and implementing a wide variety of programs, services, activities, and events tailored to the Austell Senior Center’s patrons. This includes reserving necessary equipment and supplies, creating promotional materials such as flyers and calendars, recruiting participants, and providing hands-on demonstrations and instruction in various fitness and cognitive classes.

The role also requires close coordination with community groups, civic organizations, schools, and other stakeholders to schedule speakers, presentations, and special events.

Additionally, the Program Leader supports public relations efforts by managing communication channels, distributing promotional materials, and representing the center at public events and meetings. Clerical duties such as reporting, calendar maintenance, and inventory management are also an integral part of ensuring smooth day-to-day operations.

This position demands physical capabilities including lifting and carrying moderately heavy objects, as well as tasks that require climbing, balancing, and other physical movements. Working in a community-centered environment, this role offers an excellent chance to make a meaningful impact on the lives of older adults by fostering engagement, wellness, and social connection. The position also requires a valid driver’s license and embraces Cobb County Government’s commitment to equal opportunity employment.
