Job Description
The Michaels Companies Inc. is the premier destination for all things creative in North America, operating over 1,300 stores across 49 states and Canada, along with a strong online presence at Michaels.com and Michaels.ca. Founded in 1973 and headquartered in Irving, Texas, Michaels has grown to become a leading retailer specializing in arts and crafts supplies, custom framing, seasonal decor, and creative educational experiences. As a company, Michaels prioritizes fostering creativity and celebration in the communities it serves while maintaining a commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion. At Michaels, employees are valued members of the team who are supported by a comprehensive benefits package including health insurance, paid time off, tuition assistance, and generous employee discounts.
The role based in Orange City, Florida, centers around event coordination and exceptional customer service within a Michaels store environment. The person in this position will be responsible for planning, coordinating, and facilitating engaging events such as children’s birthday parties and craft classes to ensure guests experience a fun, stress-free, and enjoyable time. This involves working directly with clients of all ages and creating an atmosphere that encourages creativity and enjoyment. The position also includes demonstrating and instructing craft projects, managing party add-ons like balloons and goody bags, and ensuring communication with clients and store teams is clear and effective.
Beyond event coordination, this role also encompasses key retail responsibilities such as assisting customers in locating products, providing solutions, and ensuring a fast and friendly checkout experience. Additional duties include participating in truck unloading, merchandise stocking according to planograms, maintaining store recovery standards, and supporting shrink and safety programs. Team members are expected to adhere to company policies, uphold cleanliness and safety standards, and maintain a respectful, positive attitude in all interactions.
Ideal candidates will possess strong interpersonal and communication skills, a passion for working with children and facilitating creative events, and retail or customer service experience. The position also demands physical capabilities such as standing for long periods, bending, lifting heavy boxes, and accessing high shelves, often within a climate-controlled store environment. The role may require some night, weekend, or early morning shifts. Michaels is committed to accommodating individuals with disabilities to ensure an inclusive workplace.
This opportunity offers prospective team members the chance to engage with the community in a creative, customer-focused setting while contributing to the success and joyful mission of Michaels. It’s a dynamic role for energetic, enthusiastic individuals who thrive in both event planning and retail environments and who value collaboration, creativity, and customer satisfaction. With comprehensive training and ongoing support, team members are empowered to deliver excellent experiences to every guest while growing their career in a thriving retail company.
