Doyaji is a vibrant and popular Korean BBQ food truck operating within the bustling food pod CORE located in Southeast Portland, Oregon. Known for its authentic and flavorful Korean BBQ offerings, Doyaji has built a loyal following among locals and visitors alike who appreciate the rich culinary traditions and the high-quality ingredients that go into every dish. As part of the dynamic food pod environment, Doyaji thrives on serving freshly cooked meals in a casual, lively setting, attracting a diverse customer base looking for both quick service and exceptional food. We are currently seeking two dedicated part-time employees to join our team in a multi-faceted role primarily focused on line cooking, but also encompassing cashiering and customer service duties. This role is integral to the daily operations of Doyaji and requires a highly reliable individual who can work independently within a small team environment. Compensation for this position is set at $17 per hour plus tips, with tips averaging about $8 per hour and typically increasing during the spring and summer seasons, reflecting the higher volume and outdoor-friendly weather.
The shifts are part-time with two distinct schedule options available. Part-time Employee 1 will be working Thursday from 2:00 PM to 8:30 PM, Friday from 3:30 PM to 9:30 PM, Saturday from 12:00 PM to 9:30 PM, and Sunday from 12:00 PM to 8:30 PM. Part-time Employee 2 will have shifts on Saturday from 11:00 AM to 9:30 PM and Sunday from 11:00 AM to 8:30 PM. Both schedules require full availability during the specified days and hours.
This position demands strong kitchen skills, especially proficiency in line cooking and knife skills, as well as the ability to manage multiple tasks during busy service periods. Success in this role involves excellent customer service skills — candidates must be friendly and patient when interacting with customers. The role requires someone who can efficiently and calmly work through the fast-paced environment while maintaining cleanliness, organization, and professionalism. Physical stamina is essential as the job involves lifting heavy items up to approximately 50 pounds and working in varying weather conditions, including both cold and hot environments. We strive to maintain a comfortable workspace but require flexibility from our team members.
