Job Description
The Nest Early Childhood Center and Central Reform Congregation have come together to offer a unique shared kitchen management position that serves both communities. The Nest Early Childhood Center is dedicated to providing high-quality early childhood education in a nurturing environment where children can develop to their fullest potential. Central Reform Congregation is a vibrant community that values tradition, education, and social justice. This shared Kitchen Manager role is designed to support both entities by maintaining a clean, organized, and well-stocked kitchen that meets their diverse needs.
This position offers a rare opportunity to work behind the scenes in a multifaceted role that combines daily food preparation with event support. The Kitchen Manager is responsible for preparing nutritious preschool lunches, managing inventory for snacks and paper goods, supporting the food service needs for synagogue events, and coordinating kitchen usage for volunteers and programming. This role requires someone who thrives in a collaborative environment, takes pride in maintaining smooth kitchen operations, and understands the importance of care and community interaction in food service.
The ideal candidate will appreciate the mission of both The Nest and Central Reform Congregation and will be instrumental in creating an environment where nourishment extends beyond the plate to foster connection and community wellness. This is a dynamic role that demands strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and a commitment to food safety and allergy protocols. The Kitchen Manager will work closely with directors and staff from both organizations to ensure that food offerings are safe, appealing, and well-managed at all times.
Beyond food preparation, the Kitchen Manager supports a variety of programming and special events, providing crucial logistical support that ensures each event runs smoothly from a food service perspective. This includes restocking supplies, cleaning kitchen spaces, reporting equipment issues, and coordinating volunteer efforts. The position is ideal for someone who enjoys a mix of daily routine and occasional event-driven work, all within an environment that values community, collaboration, and care.
This shared position exemplifies the spirit of partnership between The Nest Early Childhood Center and Central Reform Congregation by blending education, community, and tradition with practical kitchen management. It offers a fulfilling career opportunity to someone who is passionate about food safety, nutrition, and providing exceptional service to two engaged communities. With a focus on allergy-safe food handling, hygiene, and effective communication, the Kitchen Manager is a cornerstone of daily operations and special events alike, ensuring that every meal and snack contributes to the well-being of children, families, and community members served by both organizations.
