Job Requirements

One year of experience in custodial or related work
Ability to operate cleaning equipment
Willingness to perform manual labor
Ability to stand, bend, and lift regularly
Good communication skills
Ability to follow instructions and safety protocols

Availability to work varied shifts as needed

Job Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent preferred
One year of custodial or maintenance experience
Ability to operate cleaning machinery such as polishers and buffers
Basic knowledge of cleaning chemicals and supplies
Ability to perform minor maintenance and repairs
Strong attention to detail
Good communication skills
Ability to work independently or as part of a team
Commitment to safety and compliance with regulations
Physical ability to perform manual labor

Job Duties

Performs custodial tasks and maintenance of areas such as dormitories, classrooms, offices, auditoriums, kitchens, dining rooms and lavatories including outdoor areas such as trash around buildings
Dusts, mops, sweeps, scrubs, strips, waxes and polishes floors using appropriate equipment such as polishers and buffers
Washes, dusts and polishes glass including windows, woodwork, walls, furniture and metal equipment
Performs minor maintenance
Inspects buildings for damage and reports conditions to supervisor
Replenishes disposable products such as soap and paper towels
Cleans and sanitizes sinks, water fountains, and fixtures in restrooms and similar environments
Cleans chalkboards/whiteboards and other classroom surfaces
Vacuums and spot cleans carpeted areas and other fabric surfaces
Deep cleans carpets and fabric surfaces
Removes graffiti
Moves furniture and other items by hand or with moving devices
Performs set-up for athletic and university functions
Maintains assigned closets and equipment in neat, clean and safe condition
Performs limited or minor repairs to equipment assigned
Sweeps walks
collects and disposes of trash
Removes snow and ice from stairways and walkways
Salts stairways and walkways
Immediately reports unsafe conditions and submits work orders
Reports need for repairs
