Job Requirements
- less than 1 year of experience using a computer, including inputting, accessing, modifying, or outputting information
- less than 1 year of experience using common retail technology, such as smart phones and tablets
- 1 to 2 years of retail experience as a cashier
- must be able to lift items weighing up to 15 pounds with or without a reasonable accommodation
Job Qualifications
- high school diploma or equivalent
- 1 to 2 years of experience identifying and selling products based on customer needs, including credit cards, installations, add-on sales, protection plans, and explaining warranties, product features, and benefits
- 1 to 2 years of experience as a head cashier
- 1 to 2 years of experience working in any department at a Lowe's retail store
- 1 to 2 years of supervisory experience in any field, including directing, delegating, evaluating, training, and coaching employees
- less than a year of retail experience detecting common signs of shoplifting, such as merchandise hidden inside of containers, merchandise under carts, price labels switched
Job Duties
- monitor and identify customers who need assistance at multiple self-checkout registers simultaneously
- approach and interact with customers to proactively recommend products and services appropriately
- proactively greet, assist, and engage with multiple customers on multiple registers at the same time
- move throughout the checkout area standing, walking, reaching, bending, lifting, and moving product to ensure accurate completion of transactions
- thank the customer for their business and invite them back to shop at Lowe's
- provide SMART customer service through the daily execution of Lowe's customer service policies, procedures and programs
- seek out customers to understand their needs and assist in locating, demonstrating, selecting, carrying, and/or loading merchandise
- listen to and respond knowledgeably and promptly to customer and employee questions by taking them to areas of the store and walking them through projects when necessary
- demonstrate sincere appreciation to customers
- communicate information to customers regarding all stock, special order merchandise, feature benefits, application, and warranty information related to Lowe's programs
- coach, develop, provide feedback, and train associates in the various departmental duties or sales opportunities
- use a cash register to process sales transactions, returns, and refunds according to company guidelines
- provide proper monetary change to CSA Front End associates for register activities
- provide supervision, coaching, and support to CSA Front End Team (Front End/Loaders)
- remove security tags, verify product information, and bag merchandise for customers
- answer incoming phone calls and direct calls or take messages as needed
- open additional registers when necessary to ensure enough coverage always
- assist in line vesting to help quicker turnaround time for checkout
- prepare register area at the beginning and end of shift by confirming functionality of registers and scanners and stocking register supplies
- inspect returned merchandise for damages
- enter and submit customer orders, print order tickets, verify receipts, and sign off on loading tickets
- review and place online orders and returned merchandise in the appropriate areas
- look up product information and competitor prices for products to verify price match
- record all items used in the store on the store use lists
- obtain safety bags from the cash office and monitor the amount of cash in the drawers to ensure it does not exceed requirements
- monitor merchandise entering and leaving the store entrances and exits and assist customers or associates who trigger the alarm
- detect common signs of shoplifting, theft, and other security risks and promptly communicate them to management and/or Asset Protection
- ensure compliance with housekeeping standards and programs to maintain cleanliness and organization of store and working areas
- maintain a safe and secure work environment which may include conducting daily safety reviews, noting hazards, keeping aisles clear, and securing doors and gates
- adhere to all safety requirements relevant to one’s regular job duties
- operate store equipment as needed depending on one specific role and department
- be accountable for other duties as assigned
