The Parks and Recreation Department of New Braunfels is currently seeking a motivated, customer-focused individual to join their team as a Golf Cart Operator and Maintenance Associate at the Landa Park golf course. This position is nonexempt and offers a hiring salary ranging from $12.83 to $15.40 per hour, making it an excellent entry-level opportunity for individuals passionate about outdoor work and community service. This position offers hands-on experience in managing golf course equipment, maintaining grounds, and providing friendly and effective customer service in accordance with safety regulations. The successful candidate will work under general supervision but must demonstrate the ability to work independently, recognize potential hazards, and maintain public safety. Duties involve charging and cleaning golf carts, reporting equipment issues, assisting with grounds upkeep, and ensuring facilities such as the cart barn and gates are secured properly.
In addition to technical skills, this role emphasizes communication and adherence to city policies and procedures. The Golf Cart Operator and Maintenance Associate will interact regularly with the community, assisting patrons with courtesy and professionalism while maintaining the aesthetic and functional quality of the golf course facility. The ideal candidate is at least sixteen years of age, possesses or is in the process of obtaining a high school diploma or equivalent, and has a strong commitment to safety and customer service excellence. Knowledge of golf fundamentals and an understanding of how golf course operations run will be advantageous. This position may require the flexibility to work weekends, holidays, or varying work schedules, especially during community events or emergency response efforts.

Job Requirements
- Must be at least sixteen years of age
- high school diploma or GED equivalent or in the process of attaining
- ability to safely operate and maintain golf carts and equipment
- ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions
- physical ability to stand, bend, reach for extended periods and lift up to eighty pounds
- willingness to work irregular hours including weekends and holidays
- ability to follow safety procedures and city policies
- effective communication skills
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED equivalent or in process of attaining
- knowledge of city policies and procedures
- understanding of fundamentals of golf and golf course operations
- familiarity with city safety rules and occupational hazards
- skill in safe and efficient operation and maintenance of tools and equipment
- ability to deal tactfully and courteously with the general public
- effective verbal and written communication skills
Job Duties
- Operates and maintains golf carts including charging batteries, washing and detailing in compliance with safety regulations
- assists in maintaining golf course grounds including storing equipment, locking gates, picking practice areas, and cleaning cart barn
- recognizes, avoids, and reports unsafe acts, conditions, accidents, and injuries
- provides courteous and effective customer service to golf course patrons
- reports problems requiring additional attention
- performs other duties as assigned or required
