Job Description

Lane Community College (LCC), located in Eugene, Oregon, is a public community college renowned for its commitment to fostering an inclusive and equitable educational environment. As an Affirmative Action, Equal Opportunity, Veteran, and Disabled Employer, LCC embraces equity, inclusion, and accessibility. The college actively encourages diversity and provides a safe, welcoming atmosphere for historically marginalized populations, including women, BIPOC, Latinx, LGBTQ+ individuals, veterans, and persons living with disabilities. LCC supports a culture that values diverse identities, experiences, and perspectives, making it a vibrant place for both students and employees. The college administers various programs and services to ensure accessibility and equal opportunity for all, including veterans and those with disabilities who are encouraged to apply for all positions with available accommodations as needed.

The Health, Physical Education and Athletics Division at Lane Community College is seeking a qualified candidate for the part-time position of Game Management and Recreation Coordinator within its Athletics Department. This role is classified under Recreational/Club Sports and Special Events Coordinator and is hourly, paid between $17.81 and $26.12 per hour, reflecting the Classified Hourly Pay Grade 7 scale. The position offers variable hours and is considered a temporary part-time role, with work scheduled as needed and availability during evenings, weekends, holidays, and college breaks may be necessary. Work hours may increase up to 40 hours during peak periods, up to a maximum of 1039 hours within a 12-month cycle.

This role plays a vital part in supporting the college's athletics varsity sports programs and recreation departments. Key responsibilities include managing athletics game operations such as building and maintaining game day rosters, overseeing the department's website updates—including athlete bios and event schedules—and coordinating event live streaming and concessions. The coordinator will also collaborate with athletic leadership and other campus staff to organize community recreation opportunities while supervising events and directing work-study students. Event operations support, including set-up, take-down, and volunteer coordination, is a critical component of the role. The successful candidate demonstrates strong attention to detail, confidentiality with sensitive student information (in compliance with FERPA standards), excellent communication, and the ability to manage multiple priorities independently.

Candidates must have at least a high school diploma or equivalent and a minimum of one year of relevant work or volunteer experience, preferably within an educational environment related to office work, recreational programming, or competitive sports management. A current Oregon driver’s license, First Aid and CPR certification, and a Food Handler's permit are also required by the date of hire. Preferred qualifications include an associate's degree or higher in business, accounting, sports management, fitness, coaching, recreation, or a related field, along with experience organizing recreational activities or varsity sports programs. LCC values multilingual skills and strongly encourages applications from individuals who support a diverse student body.

The position demands strong proficiency in recreation and fitness equipment, sports statistical management software, safety protocols, customer relations, teamwork, and the use of computer software such as word processing, databases, and spreadsheets. Physical requirements include the ability to sit or stand for long periods, transport materials up to 50 pounds safely, and work under typical office conditions. The role emphasizes equity and inclusion, requiring the candidate to model social justice values and promote an inclusive environment free from discrimination based on race, gender, disability, and other identities.

Lane Community College prefers candidates who demonstrate a commitment to social justice and diversity through professional experience, mentorship, scholarship, and service. The coordinator reports to the Division Dean and may receive guidance from the Athletic Director. This role is essential for the success of the college’s athletics and recreational initiatives, supporting student engagement, community involvement, and a positive campus environment conducive to learning and wellness.
