Job Description

Motoring Coffee SF is a renowned specialty coffee establishment located in the vibrant city of San Francisco. Known for its commitment to quality and exceptional customer experiences, Motoring Coffee SF has built a loyal following among coffee enthusiasts and locals alike. As a specialty coffee shop, they focus on sourcing premium beans, perfecting brewing techniques, and creating an inviting atmosphere for all patrons. The team at Motoring Coffee SF is dedicated to upholding the highest standards of coffee craftsmanship, cleanliness, and customer service, ensuring every visit leaves a lasting positive impression.

We are currently seeking an experienced Barista to join our team on a part-time basis. This role is perfect for individuals passionate about the art of coffee, eager to develop their skills further, and committed to delivering top-notch customer experiences. The position guarantees a minimum of 6 hours per week with opportunities for additional hours through open shift availability, giving the hired barista priority in scheduling. The pay rate ranges from $19.75 to $20.50 per hour, providing competitive compensation for part-time work. This position requires working onsite at the coffee shop, engaging directly with customers, and maintaining the cleanliness and organization of both customer-facing and back-of-house areas.

The Barista role involves much more than just preparing coffee. Candidates must be adept at dialing in espresso blends, developing and refining drink recipes to meet the shop's quality standards, and ensuring consistency in every beverage served. Baristas play a key role in quality control by adhering to established coffee flavor profiles and maintaining the Motoring Coffee standard of excellence. Customer interaction is a critical element of this role, where baristas greet customers enthusiastically, build relationships with regulars, and assist patrons in navigating the menu to find the perfect drink.

In addition to crafting exceptional coffee, baristas will support merchandising efforts by keeping product displays organized and stocked. Problem-solving skills are essential for handling any incidents professionally and de-escalating conflicts if they arise, always prioritizing safety and a positive environment. The successful candidate will also demonstrate knowledge of the Specialty Coffee Association of America (SCAA) tasting standards, have experience with milk texturing and latte art, and hold a current ANSI-recognized food handler's card.

This opportunity at Motoring Coffee SF offers a dynamic work environment where passion for coffee meets excellent service. Ideal candidates will bring at least two years of specialty coffee and hospitality experience, proficiency in various tools like Square POS and Microsoft Office, and a genuine appreciation for the city of San Francisco. Physical capability to lift up to 50 lbs and availability to work weekends and holidays are also essential. If you are seeking a role that values your coffee expertise and customer service skills within a supportive team, Motoring Coffee SF is eager to welcome you aboard.
