Job Description

The American Red Cross is a world-renowned humanitarian organization dedicated to providing emergency assistance, disaster relief, and education in communities across the nation. Established as one of the largest and most trusted nonprofit organizations, the American Red Cross operates with a mission to alleviate human suffering in the face of emergencies by mobilizing the power of volunteers and the generosity of donors. The organization's extensive network engages millions of people every year, offering critical services such as blood donation drives, disaster preparedness training, and support for military families. Joining the American Red Cross means becoming part of a compassionate, diverse community united by the common goal of making a positive impact on individuals and communities in need.

The specific role available is for a Courier position, a vital part of the operations that ensure the timely and safe delivery of blood products and materials to both internal and external customers. This position involves operating a vehicle within traffic laws to transport blood and other essential medical items, maintaining vehicle condition, and upholding safety standards to prevent any exposure to infectious materials. As a Courier at the American Red Cross, you will work a standard schedule of Saturday and Sunday from 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM, earning $16.60 per hour plus applicable weekend differentials.

This role emphasizes customer service and compassion, requiring the Courier to engage positively and proactively with customers and colleagues. Beyond just transportation duties, the Courier is responsible for verifying orders, managing inventory for deliveries, documenting the storage and transportation of blood products in compliance with regulatory requirements, and providing shipping and receiving support. Physical demands include the ability to lift, pull, and push objects up to 50 pounds and potentially working in refrigerated environments, highlighting the importance of physical preparedness and endurance.

Working for the American Red Cross offers more than just a job; it offers the chance to be part of a mission-driven organization where your career truly becomes a force for good. The organization prioritizes the growth and well-being of its employees, providing competitive compensation, comprehensive benefits including medical, dental, and vision plans, paid time off, and 401K matching. Employees enjoy a supportive environment that respects individuality and encourages a balanced life while fostering professional growth and career development. By joining the American Red Cross, you contribute to a cause larger than yourself, helping communities recover and thrive while gaining valuable experience in a meaningful and fulfilling role.
