The role of Continental Breakfast Attendant at Merete is essential for delivering excellent guest service and maintaining the quality standards of the hotel brand. In this role, associates will be responsible for serving and stocking food and beverages at the breakfast buffet while maintaining cleanliness and adhering to safety and sanitation standards. The Continental Breakfast Attendant plays a key role in enhancing the guest experience by meeting and exceeding their expectations through attentive service and effective upkeep of breakfast areas and equipment. This position involves performing food preparation, replenishing breakfast items including coffee, tea, and condiments, and ensuring proper storage and handling of food and beverage products. The attendant will also perform daily cleaning duties to maintain a sanitary and inviting environment, adhering closely to food safety and sanitation guidelines. Attention to detail is paramount, as is the ability to respond promptly to guest needs and requests. This role offers hands-on experience in the hospitality and food service industry with opportunities for cross-training and career growth within Merete.
Physically, this job requires the ability to lift and carry trays, beverage containers, and boxes of food ranging from 15 to 45 pounds frequently and up to 75 pounds occasionally. Attendants will stand and walk up to two miles during shifts on varied surfaces such as cement, tile, asphalt, and carpet. The job requires repetitive motions including bending, kneeling, stooping, and twisting, as well as pushing and pulling carts loaded with items weighing up to 100 pounds. The work environment typically involves exposure to kitchen equipment, fumes, noise, temperature variations, and the use of protective gear. Success in this role hinges on strong time management skills, a commitment to safety standards, effective communication, teamwork, and a consistently courteous attitude towards both guests and team members. Job Requirements
- must lift and carry food trays, beverage containers, boxes of food, glass racks and garbage bags weighing 15 - 45lbs frequently and up to 75lbs occasionally
- must be able to stand and walk up to two miles per day on cement, tile, asphalt, and carpet

- must be willing to work with fumes, chemicals, vibrations, humidity, cold, heat, dust, and noise
- must be able to operate kitchen equipment safely such as oven, slicer, toaster, waffle maker, and coffee makers
- must adhere to the hotel’s safety standards and procedures
- must pass criminal background check
- must have regular and reliable attendance and punctuality

Job Duties
- perform food preparation and display the food as directed
- replenish everything during breakfast hours
- replenish coffee, tea, and condiments in the lobby area
- order/purchase food and beverage products and ensure that they are stored correctly
- follow proper food safety and sanitation guidelines
- perform daily general clean duties in designated areas
- clean and maintain breakfast equipment and items including dishware, glassware, coffee pot, waffle maker, etc.
- respond to the needs and requests of the guests
- display knowledge in and follow at all times, sanitation and sanitary food handling
- complete other duties as assigned by supervisor to include cross-training
- keep work areas clean and organized
- report all unsafe conditions immediately
- regular and reliable attendance and punctuality are essential functions of this position
- treating others with respect and behaving in a manner that is positive, productive and encourages teamwork at all times is an essential function of this job
