The role involves various responsibilities that contribute significantly to event success, from preparation through to the breakdown of events. The successful candidate will ensure every guest's experience is positive, contributing to the overall brand success of The Local. This position offers a unique opportunity to be part of a vibrant team where collaboration, attention to detail, and exceptional standards are valued. You will be entrusted with acting as the expert on high-quality standards, assisting with event setup, production, food handling, and breakdown activities. Beyond these core duties, the role requires excellent communication skills and the ability to work in a fast-paced, sometimes stressful environment, all while maintaining composure and ensuring safety protocols are strictly followed. You will work closely with the catering chef lead and other team members to stock food stations, manage service items, and guarantee that all setups and presentations adhere strictly to the Banquet Event Order (BEO) and planner’s instructions. Your day-to-day tasks will also include assisting during events by setting tables, serving, bussing tables, and cleaning to ensure a seamless and efficient operation. Being proactive and flexible to fill in as necessary, participating in employee meetings, and bringing forward valuable suggestions for improvement will also be part of your role. Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • ServSafe Certified highly preferred
  • 2 years of customer service experience
  • Frequent walking and standing up to 6-8 hours
  • Able to lift and/or move up to 50 lbs
  • Continual use of manual dexterity and gross motor skills with frequent use of bi-manual dexterity and fine motor skills
  • Able to reach hands and arms in any direction and kneel and stoop repeatedly

  • Must be at least 18 years old
  • Able to read, write and understand English
  • Demonstrate sound moral and ethical principles at work
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced and stressful environment without losing composure still maintaining high quality standards
  • Competent at creating and upholding a safe working environment
  • Able to re-stock all items as required all through shift
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate clearly and efficiently with staff and customers
  • Good math and written communication skills
  • Track record of working in a flexible timetable based on employer’s requirements
  • Eager to perform all kinds of additional tasks assigned by the manager
  • Demonstrated ability to build and maintain quick, accurate and excellent customer relationships
  • Have reliable transportation to and from work
  • Must be able to work evenings, holidays, and extended hours as business dictates
  • Must pass a criminal background check

Job Duties

  • Come to work on time and prepared for your shift in proper uniform
  • Follow all given directions and ensure quality standards are met
  • Assist catering chef lead in loading required food and/or service items into catering vehicles
  • Assist in stocking food station(s)/buffets as directed by lead catering chef lead
  • Understand and adhere to company’s policies, processes and quality standards
  • Work with catering chef lead to ensure proper set up and presentation according to BEO and/or planner’s direction
  • During service of event, job may include, but not be limited to setting tables, butler passing menu items, serving, carrying trays, bussing tables, scraping plates, resetting venue at end of event and removing trash
  • Be available to fill in as needed to ensure the smooth and efficient operation and/or other services as directed by management
  • Attend all scheduled employee meetings and bring suggestions for improvement
  • Perform other related duties as assigned by management
