Job Description
Soho House is a renowned private members' club and hospitality group that caters to a creative community with locations worldwide. Known for its distinctive blend of comfort, style, and exclusivity, Soho House operates an array of clubs, hotels, and restaurants designed to provide exceptional experiences to its members and guests. The brand prides itself on its elevated yet approachable atmosphere, prioritizing quality service, curated environments, and attention to detail. Soho House's commitment to fostering a vibrant, inclusive community aligns with its global expansion and ongoing dedication to offering career development opportunities to its team members. As an employer, Soho House emphasizes providing competitive compensation, comprehensive benefits, and a supportive culture for growth and learning within the hospitality industry.
The role of Busser at Soho House is an essential position focused on ensuring seamless and well-organized service within their esteemed venues. Key responsibilities include maintaining clean and orderly dining areas, supporting servers and management by resetting tables efficiently, and ensuring all necessary flatware, plates, and other dining essentials are readily available. The Busser plays a pivotal part in curating a polished guest experience by attending promptly to guest needs, facilitating communication with waitstaff, and assisting with various back-of-house tasks such as restocking supplies and occasional dishwashing. Success in this role requires a combination of efficiency, attentiveness, and strong customer service skills, as well as the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
Busser duties also involve preparing the dining area before service, setting tables with appropriate place settings and decorative elements like candles, and ensuring the correct china and utensils are used throughout different meal services, including breakfast, lunch, dinner, or special feast services. Ongoing station maintenance is crucial, with the Busser responsible for stocking glassware, silverware, plates, and more, as well as keeping bread warmers full and neat. Throughout service, the Busser assists in delivering water and bread to guests while also supporting other sections whenever necessary. Cleaning up by clearing dishes, polishing silverware, and resetting tables prepares the room for new guests, maintaining the high standards expected at Soho House.
The position is designed for candidates with at least one year of similar work experience, flexibility in scheduling including weekends and holidays, and basic communication skills paired with attention to detail and the capacity to deliver results under pressure. Physical stamina is key, as the role entails being on one's feet for extended periods, lifting up to 40 pounds, and engaging in fast-paced movements. Soho House also provides comprehensive training programs aimed at career development within the hospitality field, whether technical or managerial, including opportunities to advance domestically and internationally.
Additionally, Soho House offers a compelling benefits package that includes health care options, a retirement plan with employer contributions, paid time off, and various employee wellness and engagement programs. The community-oriented aspect of Soho House’s culture supports sustainability initiatives and local outreach through their Soho Impact program. Those joining the team can also participate in learning and development courses, enjoy team events ranging from fitness to arts, and benefit from complimentary substantial meals during their shifts. This role is compensated competitively with the current salary range set at $17.87 per hour in California and may vary elsewhere depending on local market conditions and employee experience.
This comprehensive environment makes the Busser role at Soho House not just a job, but an entry point into a career with a global hospitality leader dedicated to exceptional service and community-building.
