Job Description

St Joseph Catholic Church is a vibrant and welcoming parish community dedicated to nurturing faith, fostering spiritual growth, and supporting the mission of the Catholic Church. Rooted in the rich traditions of the Catholic faith and guided by the pastoral leadership of the Bishop and the Pastor, St Joseph Catholic Church serves as a center of worship, fellowship, and service for parishioners and visitors alike. The parish strives to embody Gospel values through various ministries, educational programs, sacramental preparation, and community outreach initiatives. Emphasizing inclusivity and compassion, the church invites members to deepen their relationship with Christ while engaging in meaningful service to others within and beyond the parish boundaries.

The Parish Office Receptionist at St Joseph Catholic Church plays a crucial role as the welcoming face and first point of contact for parishioners, visitors, and callers. This position is integral to the smooth operation of the parish office, providing exceptional customer service and administrative support within a faith-based environment. As a vital member of the parish staff, the receptionist fosters a warm, inviting atmosphere that reflects the church’s mission and values. The role requires not only strong communication and organizational skills but also a commitment to upholding the ministry’s spiritual and ethical standards.

The receptionist is responsible for greeting all visitors with kindness and professionalism, managing incoming calls, providing general information about parish activities and sacramental schedules, and assisting staff and parishioners by directing inquiries to the appropriate ministries or personnel. This position supports daily parish functions such as data entry, handling mail and deliveries, preparing materials for events and meetings, and maintaining organized reception and record-keeping systems. Confidentiality and discretion are paramount, as the receptionist serves as a steward of sensitive parishioner information.

This role offers a unique opportunity for individuals who want to serve their faith community while applying their administrative talents. It is a position of ministry as much as administration, requiring active participation in the parish life and alignment with Catholic teachings and values. Candidates are expected to be practicing Catholics who respect and understand the church’s mission and ministry, proficient in bilingual communication (English and Spanish), and capable of managing multiple tasks in a dynamic office setting.

Working hours are from Monday to Friday, 2:00 PM to 7:00 PM, accommodating parish schedules and events. The position demands reliability, punctuality, and the physical ability to perform light lifting and maintain a professional presence in an office environment that occasionally requires participation in religious ceremonies and adherence to church conduct protocols. The Parish Office Receptionist is a cornerstone in connecting parishioners to the church’s spiritual and communal resources, embodying the Gospel message through every interaction and supporting the Pastor’s mission of unity and faith formation within the parish community.
