Job Description

Harris Teeter is a well-established and highly regarded supermarket chain known for providing a wide variety of quality products and excellent customer service. As a member of the Kroger family of stores, Harris Teeter has built a strong reputation across several regions by emphasizing community involvement, fresh food offerings, and a welcoming shopping experience. Committed to maintaining high standards in food safety, hygiene, and customer satisfaction, the company offers an inclusive and supportive working environment where team members can grow and excel in their roles. Consistently striving to maintain operational excellence, Harris Teeter seeks motivated individuals who are dedicated to upholding these values and ensuring that customers receive the best possible shopping experience.

This part-time position at Harris Teeter focuses on the preparation, processing, packaging, and stocking of products according to Starbucks standards, ensuring that all product handling adheres to strict quality and safety guidelines. The role is multifaceted and requires individuals to provide excellent customer service, maintain cleanliness and organization of work areas, and manage the handling of stock efficiently. This position is essential for supporting the smooth operation of the store and maintaining the reputation that both Harris Teeter and Starbucks uphold. The role also includes unloading stock and reloading salvage products, all while following established operational standards to guarantee product freshness and availability.

The ideal candidate will be someone who enjoys working in a dynamic, team-oriented environment and is committed to continuous learning and improvement. Responsibilities will include adhering to company training requirements, such as new hire orientation, food sanitation, customer service, safety, food safety, and product knowledge. Candidates must be IST or AST certified, demonstrating their qualification to manage food products safely. Physical demands of the role include regular standing, walking, carrying up to 30 pounds regularly, and occasional lifting up to 50 pounds. The job may also require bending, stooping, kneeling, and reaching, alongside the ability to use hands effectively for product handling.

Given the nature of the work environment, associates will frequently be exposed to varying temperatures, moving mechanical parts, fumes, airborne particles, and sometimes toxic or caustic chemicals, with usual noise levels ranging from moderate to loud. This environment requires associates to be alert and maintain safety protocols to prevent accidents and ensure a safe workplace. Communication skills are vital as associates interact with customers and other team members regularly, requiring effective presentation and correspondence abilities in English. The role offers an opportunity to engage with customers one-on-one and in small groups, enhancing interpersonal skills and contributing to customer satisfaction and sales growth.

Benefits include eligibility for Harris Teeter's group benefit plans after applicable waiting periods, which underscores the company's commitment to supporting the well-being and growth of its employees. This position suits individuals looking for flexible part-time work with opportunities for training and development within a respected retail company.
