Job Requirements
- Ability to meet local age requirements to serve alcohol
- Ability to continuously stand and/or walk for the majority of shifts including negotiating wet tile floors and steps
- Fine motor coordination to pour beverages, decorate cocktails, and fold napkins
- Ability to roll and/or carry tables and chairs
- Ability to lift and/or carry a 30 lb tray, crate, or box
- Ability to carry items over shoulder occasionally
- Utilize hand and elbow movements for polishing glassware, setting up tables, shaking, pouring, and mixing drinks
- Excellent sight and balance to negotiate varied floor surfaces
- Ability to handle lighted candles and hot fluids such as coffee and tea
- Ability to lift, balance, and carry up to 25 lbs to transport beverage goods and equipment
- Ability to lift, balance, and carry (with assistance) up to 100 lbs for inventory and equipment transport
- Ability to work in extreme temperatures like freezers (-10 F) and kitchens (+110 F)
- Availability to work flexible schedule including mornings, weekends and holidays
Job Qualifications
- Minimum of one year experience as a Barback in a free-standing or hotel bar
- Valid Washington Food Worker Card
- Mandatory Alcohol Server Training Permit
- Passion for hospitality and guest service
- Fluency in English verbal and written
- Knowledge of beer, wine, spirits, and cocktail terms
- Ability to work flexible schedules including mornings, weekends, and holidays
Job Duties
- Uphold and model the company's principles of People, Place and Character, driving collaboration, intuition and translocal hospitality
- Work in an organized and clean fashion stocking the bar, racking kegs, filling ice bins, cutting garnishes, preparing juices, syrups and bases with respect for guests, peers, equipment, and workspace
- Participate in daily lineups and staff meetings to develop ideas, provide feedback, and strategize improvements with the service team
- Be accountable for working knowledge of menus, menu ingredients and what is unavailable for the day, serve alcohol safely, responsibly, and legally, and accurately account for all monetary transactions during shifts
- Share extensive beverage knowledge with guests to enhance their experience and offer relevant additions
- Ensure workstations are clean and organized with respect for guests, peers, and equipment
- Demonstrate a sense of urgency for guest requests
- Demonstrate understanding of basic beer, wine, spirit, and cocktail terms and study craft continuously
- Observe physical facility conditions and communicate any challenges promptly to leadership
- Assist in other Food & Beverage Department areas as needed
