Job Description

Kimpton Hotels & Restaurants is a renowned boutique hotel and restaurant group that emphasizes heartfelt, human connections through personalized service and unique environments. Founded in San Francisco in 1981 by Bill Kimpton, the company was established as a rebellion against impersonal hospitality experiences common in the industry. The goal was to create spaces where guests, employees, and communities feel genuinely connected and valued. Today, Kimpton continues to uphold this mission with a lively and irreverent culture that encourages creativity, self-leadership, and authentic interactions. Employees at Kimpton are encouraged to bring their true selves to work and contribute to a quirky, exciting atmosphere that distinguishes the brand from traditional hotel and restaurant chains.

This is a full-time, hourly position with a starting wage of $16.30 per hour, offering the opportunity to be an integral part of the vibrant and service-driven environment that Kimpton fosters. The role is designed for individuals who thrive in dynamic settings and enjoy the challenge of multitasking while delivering exceptional guest experiences.

As a Server at Kimpton, you will play a pivotal role in creating memorable dining experiences for guests through attentive and knowledgeable service. This position involves much more than just taking orders; it requires a passion for anticipating guest needs, personalizing interactions, and embodying the company's core values of heartfelt connections. You will be responsible for providing expert knowledge of menu items, including food, wine, and beverages, ensuring that guests receive timely and accurate service. Additionally, you will be an advocate for the restaurant, helping to build lasting relationships with guests that encourage repeat visits.

Your duties will extend beyond typical serving responsibilities to include teamwork, maintaining cleanliness and safety standards, and supporting various station setups and breakdowns. The role requires flexibility and a willingness to take on a variety of tasks, embracing the Kimpton culture where everyone wears multiple hats. This approach ensures a smooth operation and exceptional service, regardless of the day-to-day challenges.

The ideal candidate will bring at least one year of related experience, hold necessary certifications such as Food Handler and Alcohol Awareness when applicable, and demonstrate strong communication and presentation skills. You must be capable of managing multiple tasks efficiently, learning and retaining detailed product knowledge, and handling transactions accurately. A flexible schedule is essential, as evening, weekend, and holiday shifts are part of the position.

Kimpton is committed to diversity and inclusion, welcoming individuals of all backgrounds, life experiences, and identities. The company strives to foster a workplace where differences are celebrated, and every team member feels empowered to contribute meaningfully. This role is an opportunity not only to build a rewarding career in hospitality but also to be part of a culture that prioritizes authenticity, connection, and excellence at every level.
