Job Description

This job opportunity presents a unique and dynamic role encompassing several key positions within the Parks and Recreation Department, including Archery Range Coordinator, Building Supervisor I, Climbing Wall Coordinator, Fitness/Wellness Instructor, Garden Supervisor, Greenmead Tour Coordinator, Lead Swim Instructor, Pool Supervisor, and Special Events Coordinator. Each position offers an opportunity to engage with the community, provide leadership and supervision, and support a wide variety of recreational activities and events. Employment with the City of Livonia is available on a part-time basis, allowing flexibility for candidates. The roles require dedication to safety, staff supervision, program development, and participant engagement.

The Archery Range Coordinator position emphasizes advanced knowledge of archery sports and requires at least a Level 2 USA Archery Instructor certification. This role includes supervising staff, maintaining equipment, and assisting with programming. The Building Supervisor I focuses on overseeing facility operations, including guest services and maintenance at various recreational buildings, ensuring smooth functioning especially during events and rentals.

The Climbing Wall Coordinator is responsible for programming climbing activities, maintaining safety standards, and scheduling qualified staff, while the Fitness/Wellness Instructor plans and teaches specialty fitness and wellness classes, requiring a strong background in exercise physiology and certification in the field. The Garden Supervisor oversees participants in the Garden Program at Greenmead Historical Park, ensuring garden upkeep and participant compliance with horticulture standards.

The Greenmead Tour Coordinator manages tour scheduling and gift shop operations at Greenmead Historical Park, providing historical information and assistance to visitors. The Lead Swim Instructor supervises swimming lesson instructors, conducts training, and organizes lessons to maintain program quality and safety. The Pool Supervisor oversees aquatic facilities, staff lifeguards, maintains safety standards, and participates in training sessions. The Special Events Coordinator plans and manages youth activities and special community events, manages equipment inventory, and supports participants and staff.

Candidates must be able to work variable hours including weekdays, weekends, and holidays, and must meet specific certification and physical requirements based on the position, such as CPR/First Aid certification or lifeguard training for aquatic staff. Job Requirements

  • Be at least 16 years old or as specified for certain positions

  • For aquatic staff, possess American Red Cross Lifeguard training or nationally recognized certification, CPR for the Professional Rescuer certification, First Aid certification, and pass a swim test
