Consistently ranked among the top hospitals by U.S. News & World Report, Barnes-Jewish Hospital is renowned for its commitment to medical excellence, innovative research, and outstanding patient care. The hospital is staffed by a dedicated team of full-time academic faculty and community physicians from Washington University School of Medicine, alongside residents, interns, fellows, and a wide array of healthcare professionals. This esteemed institution takes great pride in its nursing care and was the first adult hospital in Missouri to achieve Magnet Hospital certification from the American Nurses Credentialing Center, highlighting its dedication to superior nursing standards and patient outcomes.
The hospital’s Parking and Valet Services department plays a crucial role in supporting the smooth operation of the medical center by offering safe, friendly, and convenient parking and transportation services to all user groups, including patients, visitors, employees, physicians, and volunteers. Maintaining excellent service standards, this department ensures that everyone coming to the medical center can access secure and efficient parking, fostering a welcoming and patient-focused environment.
We are looking for a dedicated Parking Attendant to join our full-time Facilities Services team in Saint Louis, Missouri. This role, with a salary range of $16.50 to $19.11 hourly depending on qualifications and experience, offers a rewarding opportunity to contribute to the hospital’s mission of providing high-quality care and support to patients and visitors. The position operates on a day schedule, specifically from 10:00 a.m. to 6:30 p.m., with no weekend shifts required and working only one major holiday per year, providing a balanced work-life environment.
As a Parking Attendant, you will be the frontline representative of Barnes-Jewish Hospital’s Valet Services, interacting directly with guests and ensuring their parking experience is positive and hassle-free. Your responsibilities will include safely driving, parking, and returning vehicles according to standardized department procedures, assisting with traffic direction in collaboration with security personnel, and promptly reporting any suspicious activity, unauthorized vehicles, or incidents within the parking areas to supervisors or security staff. Additionally, you will be expected to offer support to customers in resolving equipment issues and troubleshooting any problems to maintain operational efficiency.
This role does not require previous experience, making it accessible to individuals eager to join a healthcare setting and make a difference in the patient experience. A valid driver’s license is essential to fulfill job duties involving vehicle handling. The position offers the potential for growth, as you may occasionally be assigned duties of a Parking Attendant 2, expanding your skill set within the department.
Working at Barnes-Jewish Hospital means joining a prestigious health system that values its employees by offering comprehensive benefits from day one, including medical, dental, vision, and life insurance coverage. You will also benefit from disability insurance fully paid by the hospital, a 4% automatic retirement contribution, a 401(k) plan with matching contributions, tuition assistance, and access to a range of learning and development opportunities. Flexible spending accounts for healthcare and dependent care, paid time off combining vacation, sick days, holidays, and personal time, as well as adoption assistance, are additional benefits designed to support your overall wellbeing and career advancement.
Join Barnes-Jewish Hospital and contribute to a world-class healthcare environment where your role as a Parking Attendant makes a meaningful impact on patient care and visitor satisfaction. This is more than a job; it’s a chance to be part of a dedicated team committed to excellence and compassionate service.
