Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Graduate equivalent of a recognized educational nursing program with state requirements
- Current EMT-Paramedic license or certification in state of assignment
- Current CPR and AED certification
- Completion of FDA approved training for BioLife Medical Support Specialist
- Two years clinical or hospital experience
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent including graduate equivalent from a recognized educational nursing program with state requirements
- Currently licensed or certified in the state of assignment as EMT-Paramedic
- Current certification in Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and Automated External Defibrillator (AED)
- Fulfill state requirements for basic IV therapy in state of licensure
- Satisfactorily complete FDA approved training requirements for BioLife Medical Support Specialist
- Minimum two years of experience in a clinical or hospital setting
Job Duties
- Determine donor eligibility including informed consent, AIDS education and confidential self-exclusion, medical history interview, acceptance requirements, physical examination, blood testing, and serological protein electrophoresis review
- Evaluate and manage donor reactions in accordance with SOPs including medical emergencies, center physician standing orders, and donor transport to emergency facilities
- Refer to Center Physician or Medical Affairs for guidance on unacceptable findings, medical or technical issues related to donor safety and eligibility
- Support Hepatitis B and Seasonal Flu vaccination programs for employees
- Manage employee incidents and determine need for occupational health or emergency room evaluation
- Act as Pandemic Coordinator when authorized, supporting investigations related to pandemic threats in the local community
- Provide center level support for environmental, health and safety compliance
