Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Graduate equivalent of a recognized educational nursing program with state requirements
  • Current EMT-Paramedic license or certification in state of assignment
  • Current CPR and AED certification
  • Completion of FDA approved training for BioLife Medical Support Specialist
  • Two years clinical or hospital experience

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent including graduate equivalent from a recognized educational nursing program with state requirements
  • Currently licensed or certified in the state of assignment as EMT-Paramedic
  • Current certification in Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and Automated External Defibrillator (AED)
  • Fulfill state requirements for basic IV therapy in state of licensure
  • Satisfactorily complete FDA approved training requirements for BioLife Medical Support Specialist
  • Minimum two years of experience in a clinical or hospital setting

Job Duties

  • Determine donor eligibility including informed consent, AIDS education and confidential self-exclusion, medical history interview, acceptance requirements, physical examination, blood testing, and serological protein electrophoresis review
  • Evaluate and manage donor reactions in accordance with SOPs including medical emergencies, center physician standing orders, and donor transport to emergency facilities
  • Refer to Center Physician or Medical Affairs for guidance on unacceptable findings, medical or technical issues related to donor safety and eligibility
  • Support Hepatitis B and Seasonal Flu vaccination programs for employees
  • Manage employee incidents and determine need for occupational health or emergency room evaluation
  • Act as Pandemic Coordinator when authorized, supporting investigations related to pandemic threats in the local community
  • Provide center level support for environmental, health and safety compliance
