Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Licensed or certified EMT-Paramedic in the relevant state
  • Current CPR and AED certification
  • Meet state licensure requirements for basic IV therapy
  • Completion of FDA approved BioLife Medical Support Specialist training
  • Minimum two years clinical or hospital experience

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent including graduate equivalent of a recognized educational nursing program with state requirements
  • Currently licensed or certified in the state of responsibility as EMT-Paramedic
  • Current CPR and AED certification
  • Fulfill state requirements for basic IV therapy
  • Satisfactorily complete FDA approved training for BioLife Medical Support Specialist
  • Two years in a clinical or hospital setting

Job Duties

  • Determine donor eligibility including management of informed consent, AIDS education and confidential self-exclusion, medical history interview and acceptance requirements, physical examination, blood testing, and reviewing Serological Protein Electrophoresis (SPE)
  • Evaluate donor reaction(s) occurring at the facility as outlined in SOPs
  • Follow applicable SOPs for medical emergencies including the development of Center Physician's standing orders and donor transport to emergency care facilities
  • Refer to the Center Physician or Medical Affairs for unacceptable findings, medical or technical issues, including donor safety and eligibility
  • Support Hepatitis B and Seasonal Flu vaccination programs for employees
  • Manage employee incidents and determine need for further evaluation by occupational health/ER
  • Act as Pandemic Coordinator when authorized and support investigations related to pandemic threats
