Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Licensed or certified EMT-Paramedic in the relevant state
- Current CPR and AED certification
- Meet state licensure requirements for basic IV therapy
- Completion of FDA approved BioLife Medical Support Specialist training
- Minimum two years clinical or hospital experience
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent including graduate equivalent of a recognized educational nursing program with state requirements
- Currently licensed or certified in the state of responsibility as EMT-Paramedic
- Current CPR and AED certification
- Fulfill state requirements for basic IV therapy
- Satisfactorily complete FDA approved training for BioLife Medical Support Specialist
- Two years in a clinical or hospital setting
Job Duties
- Determine donor eligibility including management of informed consent, AIDS education and confidential self-exclusion, medical history interview and acceptance requirements, physical examination, blood testing, and reviewing Serological Protein Electrophoresis (SPE)
- Evaluate donor reaction(s) occurring at the facility as outlined in SOPs
- Follow applicable SOPs for medical emergencies including the development of Center Physician's standing orders and donor transport to emergency care facilities
- Refer to the Center Physician or Medical Affairs for unacceptable findings, medical or technical issues, including donor safety and eligibility
- Support Hepatitis B and Seasonal Flu vaccination programs for employees
- Manage employee incidents and determine need for further evaluation by occupational health/ER
- Act as Pandemic Coordinator when authorized and support investigations related to pandemic threats
