Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Graduate equivalent of a recognized educational nursing program with state requirements
  • Currently licensed or certified in the state of assignment as EMT-Paramedic
  • Current CPR and AED certification
  • Fulfill state requirements for basic IV therapy
  • Completion of FDA-approved training for BioLife Medical Support Specialist
  • Two years experience in clinical or hospital setting

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent, graduation from a recognized educational nursing program with state requirements
  • Currently licensed or certified in the state of assignment as EMT-Paramedic
  • Current Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and Automated External Defibrillator (AED) certification
  • Fulfill state requirements for basic IV therapy in state of licensure
  • Completion of FDA-approved training for BioLife Medical Support Specialist
  • Minimum of two years clinical or hospital setting experience

Job Duties

  • Determine donor eligibility including management of informed consent, AIDS education and confidential self-exclusion, medical history interview and acceptance requirements, physical examination, blood testing, and reviewing Serological Protein Electrophoresis (SPE)
  • Evaluate donor reactions occurring at the facility following applicable SOPs for medical emergencies, including development of Center Physician's standing orders and donor transport to emergency care facilities
  • Refer to the Center Physician or Medical Affairs when providing unacceptable findings to donors or for guidance on medical or technical issues regarding donor safety and eligibility
  • Support Hepatitis B and Seasonal Flu vaccination programs for employees as applicable
  • Manage employee incidents and determine need for occupational health/ER evaluation, following EHS guidance
  • Serve as Pandemic Coordinator when authorized and support investigations related to pandemic threats as indicated by EHS or Medical Affairs
