Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Graduate equivalent of a recognized educational nursing program
- Currently licensed or certified in the state where responsibilities are assigned
- EMT-Paramedic certification
- Current CPR and AED certification
- Fulfill state requirements for basic IV therapy
- Completion of FDA approved training for BioLife Medical Support Specialist
- Two years of clinical or hospital experience
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent including graduate equivalent of a recognized educational nursing program with state requirements
- Currently licensed or certified in the state where responsibilities will be assigned such as EMT-Paramedic
- Current Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and AED certification
- Fulfill state requirements for basic IV therapy
- Satisfactorily complete FDA approved training requirements for BioLife Medical Support Specialist
- Two years of experience in a clinical or hospital setting
Job Duties
- Determine donor eligibility including management of informed consent, AIDS education, confidential self-exclusion, medical history interview, acceptance requirements, physical examination, blood testing, and reviewing Serological Protein Electrophoresis (SPE)
- Evaluate donor reactions occurring at the facility and follow applicable SOPs for medical emergencies including standing orders and donor transport to emergency care facilities
- Refer to Center Physician or Medical Affairs for unacceptable findings, medical or technical issues, and donor safety and eligibility guidance
- Support Hepatitis B and seasonal flu vaccination programs for employees
- Manage employee incidents and determine need for further evaluation by occupational health or emergency room
- Serve as a Pandemic Coordinator when authorized and support investigations related to pandemic threats
- Provide center-level support for environmental, health, and safety (EHS) compliance and initiatives
