Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Graduate equivalent of a recognized educational nursing program
  • Currently licensed or certified in the state where responsibilities are assigned
  • EMT-Paramedic certification
  • Current CPR and AED certification
  • Fulfill state requirements for basic IV therapy
  • Completion of FDA approved training for BioLife Medical Support Specialist
  • Two years of clinical or hospital experience

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent including graduate equivalent of a recognized educational nursing program with state requirements
  • Currently licensed or certified in the state where responsibilities will be assigned such as EMT-Paramedic
  • Current Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and AED certification
  • Fulfill state requirements for basic IV therapy
  • Satisfactorily complete FDA approved training requirements for BioLife Medical Support Specialist
  • Two years of experience in a clinical or hospital setting

Job Duties

  • Determine donor eligibility including management of informed consent, AIDS education, confidential self-exclusion, medical history interview, acceptance requirements, physical examination, blood testing, and reviewing Serological Protein Electrophoresis (SPE)
  • Evaluate donor reactions occurring at the facility and follow applicable SOPs for medical emergencies including standing orders and donor transport to emergency care facilities
  • Refer to Center Physician or Medical Affairs for unacceptable findings, medical or technical issues, and donor safety and eligibility guidance
  • Support Hepatitis B and seasonal flu vaccination programs for employees
  • Manage employee incidents and determine need for further evaluation by occupational health or emergency room
  • Serve as a Pandemic Coordinator when authorized and support investigations related to pandemic threats
  • Provide center-level support for environmental, health, and safety (EHS) compliance and initiatives
