Job Requirements
- High School Diploma or G.E.D.
- Completion of New York State Department of Health approved Paramedic Program
- Six months ambulance experience as a Paramedic
- Six months 911 ALS experience preferred
- Valid Driver License
- Weapons of Mass Destruction Certificate
- Haz-Mat Awareness Certificate
- CEVO or EVOC Certificate
- Ability to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization

Job Duties
- Provide ALS assessment of patient condition and treat in accordance with NYS DOH and Regional Guidelines
- Transport patient to appropriate hospital and transfer care to hospital staff communicating patients condition and treatment rendered
- Demonstrate awareness of and respect for coworker and patient cultural backgrounds
- Assess patient communication ability and assist with interpreter provision as needed
- Comply with controlled substance policies and procedures
- Report to work on time and in uniform with appropriate personal equipment
- Minimize and document out of service time with appropriate notifications
- Comply with scheduling procedures and availability submission
- Maintain ability and credentials to work in NYC 911 system
- Participate in Department Hospital and Regional Quality Improvement Programs
- Attend Department meetings and training sessions
- Work as a team with partners and other providers on scene and at the hospital
- Follow NYU, FDNY and NYS DOH guidelines for emergency vehicle operation
- Check vehicle and equipment at shift start and replenish supplies
- Clean and maintain vehicle and equipment
- Restock and refuel vehicle to maintain NYS DOH part 800 compliance
- Comply with policies of 911 System Provider Guide and NYS DOH BEMS Regulations
- Notify RCC at shift start and log onto CAD system promptly
- Monitor MDT and radio for assignments and maintain professional radio decorum
- Comply with uniform policy and maintain professional appearance
- Complete Electronic Pre-Hospital Call Reports accurately prior to shift end
- Drive ambulance safely in emergency and non-emergency modes
