Job Requirements

  • high school diploma or equivalent
  • basic cardiac life support certification
  • paramedic (EMT-P) or emergency medical paramedic (EMP) certification
  • minimum of one year experience in 911 system or hospital emergency department
  • must obtain advanced cardiac life support (ACLS) or become an ACLS instructor within 6 months of employment
  • must obtain pediatric advanced life support (PALS) or become a PALS instructor within 6 months of employment

  • basic cardiac life support required
  • paramedic (EMT-P) or emergency medical paramedic (EMP) required
  • one year of 911 system or hospital emergency department experience required
  • advanced cardiac life support (ACLS) or ACLS instructor must be obtained within 6 months of employment start date
  • pediatric advanced life support (PALS) or PALS instructor must be obtained within 6 months of employment start date

Job Duties

  • assist with obtaining and documenting vital signs and placement of oxygen saturation, cardiac monitoring, and non-invasive blood pressure monitoring systems
  • assist with technical functions such as obtaining 12-lead EKGs, discontinuing peripheral IV and heparin/saline locks, and maintaining care of specimens for laboratory analysis
  • assist with patient care and treatments including positioning patients, application of sterile dressings, immobilization of extremities, cast and splint applications
  • complete basic psychomotor skills and activities related to care
  • assist with wound care, insertion of Foley catheters and nasogastric tubes
  • clean and stock carts, rooms, and change linen as required
  • provide written instructions and/or educational materials to patients and family members
