Job Requirements
- high school diploma or equivalent
- basic cardiac life support certification
- paramedic (EMT-P) or emergency medical paramedic (EMP) certification
- minimum of one year experience in 911 system or hospital emergency department
- must obtain advanced cardiac life support (ACLS) or become an ACLS instructor within 6 months of employment
- must obtain pediatric advanced life support (PALS) or become a PALS instructor within 6 months of employment
Job Qualifications
- basic cardiac life support required
- paramedic (EMT-P) or emergency medical paramedic (EMP) required
- one year of 911 system or hospital emergency department experience required
- advanced cardiac life support (ACLS) or ACLS instructor must be obtained within 6 months of employment start date
- pediatric advanced life support (PALS) or PALS instructor must be obtained within 6 months of employment start date
Job Duties
- assist with obtaining and documenting vital signs and placement of oxygen saturation, cardiac monitoring, and non-invasive blood pressure monitoring systems
- assist with technical functions such as obtaining 12-lead EKGs, discontinuing peripheral IV and heparin/saline locks, and maintaining care of specimens for laboratory analysis
- assist with patient care and treatments including positioning patients, application of sterile dressings, immobilization of extremities, cast and splint applications
- complete basic psychomotor skills and activities related to care
- assist with wound care, insertion of Foley catheters and nasogastric tubes
- clean and stock carts, rooms, and change linen as required
- provide written instructions and/or educational materials to patients and family members
