Job Requirements
- Current California paramedic license
- Valid California driver's license and clean driving record
- ACLS, PALS, and BLS certifications
- Strong work ethic
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Current CPR card
- Current ambulance driver's certificate
- Current LA City license
- Current medical examiner's card
- Ability to lift and move up to 150 pounds
- Excellent vision including close, distance, color, peripheral vision and depth perception
- Willingness to work flexible hours including afternoons and evenings
- Ability to operate in extreme weather and hazardous environments
- Effective communication and teamwork skills
- Commitment to safety and compliance policies
Job Qualifications
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
- Ability to write routine reports and correspondence
- Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals
- Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs
- Ability to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form
- Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations
- Knowledge of contact management systems, order processing systems, spreadsheet software and word processing software
- Experience with geriatric patients
- Ability to work under pressure and in extreme situations and climates
Job Duties
- Assess the nature and extent of illness or injury to establish and prioritize medical procedures
- Restore and stabilize heart rhythm on pulseless, non-breathing patients
- Monitor cardiac patients
- Administer intravenous fluids when necessary
- Perform endotracheal intubation to open airways and ventilate patients
- Administer injections of medications and drugs
- Inflate pneumatic anti-shock garment to improve blood circulation
- Provide initial treatment at emergency scenes and record patients' vital signs
- Assist in extricating trapped victims
- Transport sick and injured persons to treatment centers
- Provide physicians with necessary patient information
- Drive mobile intensive care or ambulance units to and from emergency scenes
- Communicate with hospital, physician, and other medical personnel
- Keep current on treatment techniques and protocol changes
- Prepare required reports and maintain activity records
- Requisition and restock supplies, materials, and equipment
- Clean and perform minor maintenance on assigned emergency vehicles
- Ensure a safe and productive work environment
- Read and interpret safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
- Perform other assigned duties
