Job Requirements
- Current Texas Department of State Health Services EMT-Paramedic license
- Minimum 1 year of 911 system or hospital emergency department experience
- Basic Cardiac Life Support instructor certification within 30 days of hire
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support instructor certification within 6 months of hire
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support instructor certification within 6 months of hire
- Ability to perform venipuncture and administer IV fluids and medications
- Strong communication skills
- Ability to work full-time days 7A-7P
Job Qualifications
- Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) instructor must be obtained within 30 days of employment
- Emergency Medical Technician: Paramedic (EMT-P) or Emergency Medical Paramedic (EMP) with current Texas Department of State Health Services EMT-Paramedic license
- Minimum 1 year 911 system or hospital emergency department experience
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) instructor must be obtained within 6 months of employment
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) instructor must be obtained within 6 months of employment
Job Duties
- Assist with obtaining and documenting vital signs and placement of oxygen saturation, cardiac monitoring, and non-invasive blood pressure monitoring systems
- Assist with obtaining 12-lead EKGs, discontinuation of peripheral IV and heparin/saline locks and maintenance and care of specimens for laboratory analysis
- Perform venipuncture, administer and maintain IV fluids and medications according to hospital guidelines, correctly label and regulate flow of IV solutions, document IV therapies
- Assist with patient care and treatments including positioning patients, application of sterile dressings, immobilization of extremities, cast and splint applications
- Complete basic psychomotor skills and activities related to care
- Assist with wound care, insertion of Foley catheters and nasogastric tubes
- Clean and stock carts, rooms, and change linen as required
- Provide written instructions and/or educational materials to patients and family members
