Job Requirements
- Maintain insurability with agency's insurance carrier
- Compliance with annual respiratory fit testing
- Proficiency with agency-approved driving course
- Maintain all mandatory continuing education and in-service training
- Medically fit for duty as determined by agency-appointed physicians
- Ability to work flexible hours including holidays, nights, and weekends
- Ability to stand, walk, sit for extended periods and perform physical tasks including lifting over 100 pounds
- Valid Driver's License
- Ability to adapt quickly to changes and work under pressure
- Adherence to all work rules, procedures, and standards
Job Qualifications
- Current Paramedic certification
- Completion of FEMA classes IS-100, IS-200, IS-700, and IS-800
- Ability to communicate clearly in writing and verbally
- Ability to operate effectively in unpredictable situations
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions
- Ability to calculate figures and apply basic algebra and geometry
- Ability to read and interpret safety rules and procedure manuals
Job Duties
- Provide basic and advanced life support based on medical and trauma protocols
- Respond to emergency medical dispatcher instructions and drive emergency vehicles
- Work assigned schedules including extended hours and overtime as needed
- Perform life-saving medical procedures such as EKG interpretation, defibrillation, medication administration, intubation, cricothyrotomy, and chest decompression
- Manage entrapment scenes and triage multiple injury situations by directing rescue squads and first responders
- Complete all required paperwork and ensure HIPAA compliance at patient hand-off
- Support on-scene direction and assessment under the supervision of Crew Chief
- Maintain safety and operational standards in high-stress environments
