Job Description

This position is a PRN (pro re nata) role located within an academic flight program that operates under the direction of the Program Manager and Flight Surgeon/Medical Director. The hiring establishment is a critical care transport service specializing in highly skilled medical air transport to ensure rapid and effective patient care during critical emergencies. Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • 3-5 years field experience in an active EMS or hospital
  • Florida Paramedic License
  • BLS certification from American Heart Association
  • ACLS certification from American Heart Association
  • PALS certification from American Heart Association
  • FP-C or CCP-C certification within six months of hire
  • PHTLS certification within six months of hire
  • EPC certification within six months of hire

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Completion of Advanced Trauma Life Support course audit within six months of hire
  • Certification in FEMA IS 100 and FEMA IS 200
  • Air Medical Crew Curriculum Certification as required by Florida Administrative Code
  • Florida Paramedic License
  • BLS, ACLS and PALS certifications from American Heart Association
  • FP-C or CCP-C certification within six months of hire
  • PHTLS and EPC certifications within six months of hire
  • Knowledge of pathophysiology related to cardiac, pulmonary, renal and neurological systems
  • Ability to work in highly stressful situations
  • Strong customer relations and organizational skills
  • Ability to provide leadership at emergency scenes
  • Education and instruction experience with EMS agencies in the Trauma Service Area

Job Duties

  • Respond to all assigned calls in the most appropriate and efficient manner
  • Provide high standards of patient care ensuring a safe and hazard free environment
  • Perform patient assessment, treatment, packaging and transport
  • Work collaboratively with first response agencies, healthcare providers, physicians and hospital personnel
  • Take leadership and incident command authority at emergency scenes in conjunction with other agencies
  • Educate EMS agencies and participate in outreach educational initiatives
  • Maintain compliance with hospital policies and Florida Department of Emergency Medical Services guidelines
