Job Requirements
- Possess a high school diploma or equivalent
- at least one year of general experience demonstrating interpersonal skills and ability to follow orders
- minimum of 21 years of age
- maintain current/physical residency in the continental U.S.
- pass a medical examination conducted by licensed physician within 30 days prior to assignment
- be a U.S. citizen or lawful permanent resident
- have resided in U.S. for last five years unless abroad on official U.S. government duty
- successfully complete thorough background investigation
- possess or obtain required security clearances
- proficiency in Spanish preferred
- able to perform physical tasks such as walking, jogging, lifting over 30 pounds, performing CPR while standing or kneeling
- able to assist patients with evacuation
- good vision, hearing and smell with aids as necessary
- ability to sit or stand for extended periods
- manual dexterity for computer operation
- able to handle stressful and austere environment
Job Qualifications
- Possess a National Registry of Emergency Medical Technician Paramedic (NREMT-P) certification
- hold American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- current Advanced Life Support (ACLS) certification
- excellent judgment, courage and alertness
- effective communication skills
- ability to understand and apply written and verbal orders, rules and regulations
- literate with ability to interpret printed rules and compose reports
- experience in emergency medical care
- ability to maintain poise during stressful situations
Job Duties
- Evaluate patient's condition to properly stabilize for treatment
- administer cardiopulmonary resuscitation through various techniques such as intravenous insertion, intubation and drug administration
- determine advance medical implications of wounds to treat appropriately
- determine proper method to stabilize patients with physical injuries such as fractures, dislocations and sprains
- collaborate with healthcare team to facilitate appropriate medical follow-up
- respond promptly and effectively to medical emergencies
- perform life-saving interventions in high-pressure situations
