Job Requirements
- Must be a minimum of 18 years of age
- Obtain and maintain Oklahoma motor vehicle operator's license within company guidelines
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
- Certificate from college or technical school preferred
- Obtain and maintain Oklahoma Department of Health EMT Certification
- Obtain and maintain National Registry Certification
- Obtain and maintain all certifications required by the Medical Control Board and EMSA including CPR, ACLS, PALS, Hazardous Materials (first responder level)
Job Qualifications
- Work independently and maintain effective working relationships with EMSA staff, healthcare professionals, and the public
- Read and interpret safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
- Write routine reports and correspondence
- Communicate effectively with healthcare professionals, law enforcement, emergency response organizations, and the public
- Ability to continue EMS education as required by company policy
- Successful completion of hiring requirements including Physical Ability Test, background check, and urinalysis
Job Duties
- Follow medical care practices as documented in EMSA medical protocols and as mandated by the Medical Control Board
- Responsible for overall care and safe transportation of patients assigned to the crew by the System Status Controller
- Complete all documentation that relates to patient care and billing information on appropriate forms, in approved format, and turn in documentation as required
- Responsible for safe transport of patient to and from ambulance, including lifting patients and maneuvering past obstacles
- When assigned as an Emergency Vehicle Operator, be responsible for and in control of the assigned ambulance in accordance with laws and company policies
- Maintain care, use, and appearance of assigned ambulance and equipment
- Familiarize with equipment placement and maintain accurate inventory of medical equipment
