Job Requirements

  • Minimum age of 21 years
  • current physical residency in the continental U.S.
  • pass a medical examination by a licensed physician within 30 days prior to assignment
  • U.S. citizen or lawful permanent resident
  • resided in the U.S. for the past five years unless abroad on official U.S. government duty
  • successful completion of a thorough background investigation
  • possess or ability to obtain required security clearances
  • proficiency in Spanish preferred
  • ability to walk unaided at normal pace for up to 5 minutes
  • ability to jog or fast walk up to quarter mile
  • physical capability to lift objects over 30 pounds
  • perform CPR and emergency care standing or kneeling
  • assist patients in exiting buildings including lifting or dragging
  • ability to see, hear, and smell with aids if necessary
  • no physical limitations affecting job duties
  • sitting or standing for extended periods
  • manual dexterity for computer operation
  • extended phone or computer use

Job Qualifications

  • Possess National Registry of Emergency Medical Technician Paramedic (NREMT-P) certification
  • hold American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
  • current Advanced Life Support (ACLS) certification
  • at least one year of general experience demonstrating ability to engage with the public tactfully
  • capability to understand and apply written and verbal orders, rules, and regulations
  • capable of composing reports
  • exhibit good judgment, courage, alertness, and an even temperament
  • ability to maintain poise and self-control in mentally stressful situations
  • high school diploma or equivalent

Job Duties

  • Evaluate patient's condition to properly stabilize for treatment
  • administer cardiopulmonary resuscitation using various techniques such as intravenous insertion, intubation, and drug administration
  • determine advanced medical implications of wounds to treat appropriately
  • stabilize patients with physical injuries such as fractures, dislocations, and sprains
  • collaborate with healthcare teams to facilitate appropriate medical follow-up
  • perform life-saving emergency interventions in high-pressure situations
  • maintain composure and deliver care in stressful and austere environments
