Job Requirements
- High school graduate or GED
- certified paramedic in the State of Texas
- CPR certification
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)
- Pre-Hospital Life Support (PHTLS) or International Trauma Life Support (ITLS)
- effective communication skills
- ability to read, write and interpret English instructions
- valid Texas driver’s license and insurability
Job Qualifications
- High school graduate or GED
- certified as a paramedic in the State of Texas
- CPR certification
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)
- Pre-Hospital Life Support (PHTLS) or International Trauma Life Support (ITLS) for 911 areas
- communicates effectively
- reads, writes and interprets instructions in English
- valid Texas driver’s license and insurable
Job Duties
- Responds to emergency and non-emergency calls 24 hours per day, drives emergency vehicles in various road and weather conditions including inclement weather, dense traffic, and rural off-road settings
- reads map books and follows directions to respond efficiently and safely
- adheres to departmental, local and state driving laws, policies and procedures
- communicates effectively with dispatchers, EMS crews, first responders and other organizations using communication equipment
- maintains vehicles and equipment in a state of readiness and cleanliness
- completes daily vehicle and supply checklists and assists with re-supply and equipment decontamination
- reports discrepancies with vehicles, supplies or equipment in writing
- provides patient care per Medical Director's protocols
- demonstrates clinical competency in patient care
- lifts, carries, transports and extricates patients safely
- interacts with police, fire departments and first responder agencies
- provides professional customer service
- completes patient care reports and documentation accurately and timely
- operates under physically and psychologically demanding conditions including exposure to hazardous environments and pathogens
- performs other duties as assigned including housekeeping and special projects
- adheres to company policies and procedures
