Job Requirements
- Possess a high school diploma or equivalent
- be at least 21 years of age
- maintain current physical residency in the continental US
- pass a medical examination conducted by a licensed physician within 30 days prior to initial assignment
- be a US citizen or legally admitted permanent resident
- have resided in the US for the last five years unless on official US government duty abroad
- successfully complete thorough background investigation
- possess or be able to obtain required security clearances
- this position is considered hazardous duty
- able to walk unaided at normal pace for up to 5 minutes maintaining balance
- jog/fast walk up to quarter mile
- perform physical exertion such as lifting objects over 30 pounds
- perform CPR/emergency care standing or kneeling
- ability to assist in moving sick, injured, or aging patients exceeding own body weight
- have adequate vision, hearing, and smell with aids if necessary
- sit or stand for extended periods
- demonstrate average manual dexterity for computer and phone use
- work effectively in stressful and often austere environments
- proficiency in Spanish preferred
Job Qualifications
- Possess a National Registry of Emergency Medical Technician Paramedic (NREMT-P) certification
- hold American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- current Advanced Life Support (ACLS) certification
- at least one year of general experience demonstrating ability to interact tactfully with the public
- capable of interpreting and applying written and verbal orders, rules, and regulations
- demonstrate good judgment, alertness, courage, and an even temperament
- maintain poise and self-control during stressful situations
Job Duties
- Evaluate patient’s condition to properly stabilize for treatment
- administer cardiopulmonary resuscitation using techniques such as intravenous insertion, intubation, and drug administration
- determine advanced medical implications of wounds and treat appropriately
- determine proper methods to stabilize patients with physical injuries such as fractures, dislocations, and sprains
- collaborate with healthcare team to facilitate appropriate medical follow-up
- respond promptly to emergency medical situations
- maintain accurate patient records and documentation
