The position available is for a Gardemanger, a culinary role within the Food and Beverage and Culinary category. This is a full-time, non-management role offering a competitive pay rate of $28.05 per hour. Located onsite in Chicago, this position plays a vital role in the banquet and kitchen operations. The Sheraton Grand Chicago Riverwalk has partnered with the Rouxbe Cooking School, providing culinary associates access to an engaging self-paced online training platform. This collaboration facilitates professional growth by offering hundreds of visually appealing lessons designed to enhance culinary skills and knowledge, applicable directly to daily job functions.

The Gardemanger is responsible for preparing cold foods and creative plate and platter presentations for banquets, contributing significantly to the banquet presentation and guest satisfaction. The role involves handling food preparation tasks, including portioning, chopping, weighing, mixing, and cooking using various kitchen appliances such as ovens, stoves, grills, microwaves, and fryers. This position demands meticulous attention to food quality, ensuring all prepared items meet established standards before service. Safety and compliance are priorities within this role. The Gardemanger adheres to all company safety and security policies, reports any maintenance issues or unsafe conditions, and completes all required safety training. The role emphasizes professionalism, including maintaining a clean uniform and appearance, safeguarding proprietary company information, and upholding high standards of hospitality when interacting with guests. Effective communication and teamwork are also essential, as the Gardemanger works closely with other team members to achieve shared goals and maintain the quality of service expected by Marriott and Sheraton standards.
