This position is within a manufacturing company specializing in metal products, focusing on the packaging, crating, and shipping operations crucial for ensuring the safe and timely transit of goods. Job Qualifications
- 3+ years in packaging, shipping, or warehouse operations
- strong background in woodworking, crate building, and use of carpentry tools and equipment
- ability to operate forklifts, pallet jacks, nail guns, saws, and other power tools safely
- knowledge of shipping regulations (domestic and international preferred)
- strong organizational and problem-solving skills
- ability to read and follow blueprints, drawings, and specifications
- basic computer skills for shipping software, inventory systems, and documentation
Job Duties
- Build custom wooden crates, pallets, and supports for metal products
- read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and packaging specifications
- repair and modify crates as needed to meet shipping requirements
- ensure compliance with ISPM-15 and other international crating standards
- pack products using protective materials to prevent damage
- prepare and verify shipping documents, labels, and freight paperwork
- coordinate with carriers, freight forwarders, and logistics partners
- track shipments and resolve shipping issues or delays
- maintain inventory of packaging materials, lumber, and supplies
- perform quality checks on packaging, crating, and shipping procedures
- follow company safety standards and maintain a clean, organized work area
- support continuous improvement efforts to increase efficiency and reduce costs
