The role of a Beverage Server at Paragon Tropicana involves serving beverages to patrons on the casino floor and in the Table Games areas. This position requires a highly motivated individual with a thorough knowledge of liquor types, beverages on the menu, and a passion for delivering excellent customer service. The Beverage Server acts as a vital link between the customers and the bar staff, ensuring timely delivery of drinks while maintaining the highest standards of hospitality. Responsibilities include taking beverage orders, relaying them to bartenders, recognizing comp and charge items, serving drinks with appropriate garnishes and cocktail napkins, and handling payments accurately. Additionally, the Beverage Server is expected to upsell liquor and specialty drinks, remove empty or dirty glasses promptly, and abide by house rules in comping players' drinks.

Job Requirements

  • Must be 21 years of age or older
  • Must have a high school diploma or equivalent
  • Work varied shifts, to include weekends and holidays
  • Possess a food handler's card
  • Possess an alcohol awareness card

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Six months experience as a cocktail and/or food server preferred
  • Experience working in a similar resort setting preferred
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Knowledge of beverages on menu, liquor brands, beer, spirits, and non-alcoholic beverages
  • Able to take initiative and exhibit flexibility
  • Able to lead and mentor a team
  • Highly motivated and energetic personality

Job Duties

  • Takes beverage order and relays it to bartender
  • Notifies bartender when beverage is a comp or charge item
  • Collects order from bartender, adds appropriate garnish, places on tray, and serves to patrons with cocktail napkins
  • Computes bill and accepts payment as needed
  • Up-sells liquor
  • Collects money for drinks served
  • Comps players drinks in accordance with house rules
  • Suggestive sells specialty and house cocktails, beers and wines
  • Thorough knowledge of liquor types
  • Thorough knowledge of in-house liquor, beer and wine selection
  • Requests identification from customers when legal age is questioned
  • Removes empty or dirty glasses and bottles and returns them to the bar or kitchen
  • Other duties as assigned
