Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Minimum three years experience in security, loss prevention or related field
  • OR two-year degree in Criminal Justice or related major with minimum one year experience
  • Ability to manage and train staff
  • Knowledge of OSHA standards and fire prevention
  • Strong communication and conflict resolution skills
  • Ability to operate and maintain security systems
  • Capacity to work full time
  • Must be located at Renaissance Chicago Downtown Hotel
  • Commitment to uphold safety and loss prevention policies
  • Ability to handle stressful situations professionally
  • Willingness to collaborate with law enforcement and internal teams

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Three years of experience in security, loss prevention or related professional area
  • OR two-year degree from accredited university in Criminal Justice or related major
  • One year experience in the security, loss prevention or related professional area
  • Knowledge of fire prevention programs and emergency preparedness
  • Strong understanding of OSHA requirements and safety audits
  • Skilled in conducting hazard and risk assessments
  • Competence in managing security equipment and technology
  • Excellent conflict resolution and communication skills
  • Experience in coordinating and leading team meetings
  • Ability to develop and implement risk control plans
  • Strong investigative and emergency response skills
  • Proficient in customer service best practices
  • Ability to foster teamwork and cooperation amongst staff

Job Duties

  • Assists the Director of Engineering in administering fire prevention programs and emergency preparedness
  • Completes all record keeping requirements in accordance with property and division standards including OSHA logs and accident analysis
  • Conducts hazard and risk assessments including quarterly OSHA/SAFETY audits and incident tracking
  • Demonstrates knowledge and enforcement of all brand loss prevention guidelines
  • Enforces random bag checks and red sticker policy
  • Follows proper key control guidelines and develops monthly checklists for security equipment
  • Handles complaints, disputes, and resolves conflicts effectively
  • Holds quarterly meetings and coordinates cluster meetings through the Director of Loss Prevention
  • Implements action plans to monitor and control risk
  • Maintains integrity of the Loss Prevention Department through unannounced spot checks
  • Assists in investigations related to guests and employees
  • Assists in patrol processes, emergency response, loss prevention operations
  • Provides personal assistance, medical attention, and emotional support as needed
  • Develops liaison with local law enforcement and emergency services
  • Communicates safety procedures and ensures employee understanding
  • Emphasizes teamwork and hospitality to deter crime
  • Encourages mutual trust and cooperation among team members
  • Inspects and critiques departmental performance to maintain professionalism and customer service
  • Provides services above and beyond for customer satisfaction and retention
