The Overnight Houseperson/Public Area Attendant plays a vital role in sustaining the immaculate condition of the resort during the night shift. This position requires a commitment to keeping all public areas, lobbies, restrooms, the spa, front desk, and offices exceptionally clean and well-organized. The role is fundamental in projecting a positive image of the resort to guests who may arrive or require assistance outside normal housekeeping hours. The Overnight Houseperson must exhibit a pleasant, honest, and friendly demeanor, with the capability to manage guest requests and problems independently during late hours.
As a member of the housekeeping team, the individual is tasked with deep cleaning hallways, lobbies, and public restrooms, ensuring all entryways and mats are clean, polishing furniture and fixtures, and maintaining clean and attractive front and back areas of the hotel. Expertise using various cleaning tools and equipment, such as vacuum cleaners, brooms, floor machines, and scrubbers, is essential for this position. The Overnight Houseperson also takes responsibility for restocking supplies in public washrooms and ensuring all furniture is neatly arranged. In addition to routine cleaning, the role demands vigilance in preparing and checking larger spaces like ballrooms for events.
Working conditions entail both indoor and outdoor duties, which may expose individuals to extreme weather variations customary to Tucson, including heat, wind, dust, and noise. Hence, the ideal candidate not only needs to be physically capable of tasks involving walking, bending, stooping, and standing for long durations but must also demonstrate independence, safety consciousness, and reliability when handling equipment and chemicals.

Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- prior experience in housekeeping or janitorial work preferred
- ability to work overnight shifts
- physical capability to perform cleaning tasks including walking, bending, stooping, and standing for extended periods
- knowledge of safe handling of cleaning chemicals and equipment
- good communication skills to interact with guests and staff
- must be punctual and reliable
Job Qualifications
- Ability to understand and carry out written and verbal instructions
- must be able to walk, bend, stoop, stand for long periods of time
- ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
- must be able to work independently
- must be able to safely work with cleaning equipment and chemicals
Job Duties
- Deep cleans hallways and all lobbies and public restrooms
- sweeps entryways and ensures all entryway mats are clean
- polishes furniture and fixtures
- keeps the front of the hotel free from trash
- keeps the back area of front desk neat and clean
- cleans rugs, carpets and upholstered furniture using a vacuum cleaner and broom
- keeps all public areas neat, vacuumed and dusted
- washes walls and ceilings, moves and arranges furniture
- makes sure mirrors, furniture, floors, ashtrays and doors are clean and mark-free
- dusts and polishes metal work, chandeliers etc.
- restocks all supplies including toilet paper, soap and hand towels in the lobby wash rooms
- arrange all furniture in lobby
- checks ballroom before and after an event to ensure it is neat and clean
- ensures proper maintenance and usage of equipment and tools (power washer, floor machines, scrubbers, extractors cleaners and buffers)
- take up any tasks assigned by the Overnight Housekeeping Supervisor
