Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 2-3 years of related retail experience
  • One year of management experience
  • Experience with rotational assignments in departments such as meat, bakery, produce, deli, customer service or product flow
  • Strong communication skills

Job Duties

  • Ensure a positive company image by providing courteous, friendly, and efficient service to customers and team members
  • Responsible for staffing, selection and hiring to achieve staffing needs
  • Promote succession planning by providing career paths and identifying development needs for team members
  • Document and apply disciplinary actions and recommend discharge when necessary
  • Responsible for profit and loss, achieving sales targets and maintaining shrink for the department
  • Model exceptional, fast and friendly customer service
  • Communicate the Meijer Friendly Initiative in all team meetings and conversations
  • Mentor and coach team members to ensure customer service and sales goals are exceeded
  • Ensure team members are thoroughly trained and have completed all required training
  • Spend majority of time interacting with customers and team members to ensure exceptional service
