The position of Engineering Project Manager at Gaylord Hotels, located in Chula Vista, California, is a full-time management role with a salary range between $85,000 and $114,000 annually, including eligibility for bonuses. This role involves the comprehensive management and coordination of capital and operational projects within the Engineering division. The successful candidate will oversee every phase of project execution, including the bid process, coordination with local authorities, contractor management, and billing oversight. The Engineering Project Manager is responsible for ensuring that projects are completed efficiently, on schedule, and with minimal disruption to the guest experience.

This role requires adept management of daily operations and ongoing performance of consultants, vendors, suppliers, and contractors. It includes developing detailed project timelines to track progress, anticipate challenges, and implement solutions proactively. The manager ensures compliance with local permitting requirements, safety regulations, and building codes, while striving to uphold the highest standards in property maintenance and life safety systems. A key part of the role is promoting exceptional customer service by demonstrating leadership in guest hospitality and maintaining a positive environment that elevates guest satisfaction. Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Six years experience in project management, engineering, maintenance or related professional area
  • OR bachelor’s degree from an accredited university in building and construction, engineering, mechanics or related major
  • Four years experience in engineering, maintenance, project management or related professional area
  • Strong organizational and communication skills
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and timelines
  • Knowledge of local building codes and safety regulations
  • Proficiency in project inspection and quality control
  • Leadership abilities in guest hospitality and customer service

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED with 6 years of experience in project management, engineering, maintenance, or related field
  • Bachelor’s degree in Building and Construction, Engineering, Mechanics or related major with 4 years of experience in engineering, maintenance, or project management
  • Proven experience managing engineering projects and budgets
  • Knowledge of local permitting procedures and building codes
  • Ability to manage contractors and vendor relations effectively
  • Strong leadership skills to promote exceptional customer service and guest satisfaction
  • Skilled in developing project timelines and managing multiple priorities

Job Duties

  • Manage and coordinate capital and operating projects within the Engineering division
  • Oversee the bidding process and coordinate with the city and local authorities
  • Manage contractors, consultants, vendors, and suppliers for ongoing project performance
  • Develop and manage project timelines to achieve execution goals and minimize guest experience disruption
  • Verify adherence to local permits, building codes, and safety regulations including OSHA and MSDS compliance
  • Perform routine project inspections ensuring quality control and compliance with specifications
  • Prepare project progress reports detailing timelines, delays, and costs
