The Overnight Baker position is a pivotal role within this vibrant workplace. Overnight Bakers significantly contribute to ensuring that every donut produced is both delicious and visually appealing. These bakers manage the cutting, proofing, and frying stages of multiple dough types that transform into The Salty’s signature fresh donuts each day. This role is heavily trained and mentored by the Executive Pastry Chef, providing a structured training program focused on building extensive product knowledge and equipping bakers with the skills to effectively manage the various challenges of the kitchen environment.
Working as an Overnight Baker offers exposure to a collaborative and ambitious team culture where dedication to quality and hospitality meet. The position often requires managing multiple responsibilities simultaneously, flexibility in scheduling including weekends and holidays, and the physical capacity to perform strenuous tasks such as standing for extended periods and lifting up to 50 pounds. Job Requirements
- Ability to work in a standing position for long periods of time (up to 10 hours)
- Ability to bend, reach, stoop, and lift up to 50 pounds
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Availability to work overnight shifts
- Ability to work a flexible schedule including weekends and holidays
- Reliable transportation
- Strong attention to detail
- Physical stamina for repetitive tasks
- Basic math skills
- Effective communication skills in English
Job Qualifications
- Previous experience working with dough is a plus but not required
- Ability to work a variety of shifts including weekends and holidays
- Comfortable with physically strenuous and repetitive tasks
- Excellent punctuality and reliable transportation to and from work
- An extreme attention to detail
- Ability to multitask and set priorities
- Friendly attitude and team player
- Excellent time management skills to work at a fast pace when given plenty of time

- Ability to perform basic addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division

Job Duties
- Cut, proof and fry various types of dough per company standards and instructions laid out by the Executive Pastry Chef
- Follow the production numbers given each day by the Executive Pastry Chef
- Visually identify quality or bad product before and after it is fried or handed off to the decorators
- Ensure counts are done throughout each shift to double check that accurate amounts of donuts were cut, proofed and fried
- Communicate with kitchen leads to cross check and troubleshoot quality and production numbers
- Ensure cleanliness of work areas including but not limited to tables, shelves, equipment, walls, and floors
- Ensure maintenance of equipment and tools used daily and report any malfunctions to the Executive Pastry Chef immediately
- Complete and submit cleaning checklists at designated times
- Other related responsibilities as assigned
