Job Description
Helen Ross McNabb Center is a well-established nonprofit organization dedicated to providing mental health, substance abuse, and developmental disability services to individuals and families in Tennessee. The Center’s mission focuses on helping others, making a difference, and saving lives by offering compassionate care and support to those navigating difficult circumstances. Rooted in community involvement and a commitment to advocacy, the Helen Ross McNabb Center has become a trusted resource in Hamilton County, McMinn County, and beyond, supporting the well-being of the region’s residents through outreach, education, and direct service programs. As an Equal Opportunity Employer, the Center embraces diversity and inclusion, ensuring an equitable work environment for all employees and fostering a culture where every team member is valued and empowered.
The Outreach and Marketing Specialist role at Helen Ross McNabb Center is a vital position within the Community Relations department. This specialist will take charge of coordinating and representing the Center at community tabling and outreach events primarily in Hamilton and McMinn Counties. The specialist’s duties include a wide range of activities tied to marketing, volunteer recruitment, public relations, and the creation of promotional content. The role offers an in-person, hourly position with a competitive starting wage of approximately $22.87 per hour, reflecting relevant experience and education. The work schedule predominantly covers Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., with occasional nights and weekends needed to support special community events.
This position requires frequent travel between local event sites and the organization’s central office in Knoxville, Tennessee, for training and meetings. Beyond event coordination and on-site representation, the Outreach and Marketing Specialist supports the Community Relations department through content design for marketing and promotional campaigns, social media monitoring, and assisting with awareness initiatives. The role also involves managing volunteer recruitment and engagement by building partnerships with social, civic, and local organizations, making it an excellent opportunity for someone passionate about community service and outreach.
Applicants should be highly organized and skilled communicators with experience or knowledge in marketing, outreach, and volunteer coordination; familiarity with graphic design software such as Adobe products is preferred but not mandatory. The Center values candidate adaptability, given the physical requirements that include lifting, pushing, and frequent periods of sitting, standing, and walking. Ideal candidates will hold a bachelor’s degree in communications, marketing, or a related field. This position not only offers a platform to make meaningful contributions to the community but also provides a supportive work environment where employees are appreciated and their hard work directly impacts the lives of others.
