Job Duties

  • Greet guests in a warm and enthusiastic manner
  • Assist host or hostess in seating guests
  • Present menu and answer questions
  • Make suggestions about food, service, wines, and food preparation
  • Memorize menu selections and daily specials
  • Use proper etiquette including serving ladies first
  • Write or memorize orders
  • Relay orders to kitchen and bar using point of sale system
  • Observe guests and fulfill requests
  • Total bill and accept payment or refer to cashier
  • Ladle soup, portion pies and desserts, brew coffee
  • Clear and reset counters or tables
  • Assist in cleaning and wiping service and prep areas
  • Maintain cash handling procedures
  • Follow safe serve regulations for alcoholic beverages
  • Handle reasonable guest complaints and requests
  • Comply with health and safety regulations and company policies
