The role of Manager, Outbound is a critical leadership position within Sysco's warehouse operations. This position is responsible for directing and coordinating all activities related to the outbound processes in the warehouse, specifically those involving the selection, loading, stacking, checking, and shipping of foodservice and food-related products. The Manager, Outbound oversees the nightshift operations to ensure efficiencies that minimize shrinkage and optimize workflow. They are tasked with implementing and monitoring policies and procedures that improve productivity and operational effectiveness.
In this role, the Manager, Outbound collaborates closely with various internal departments such as sales and transportation to ensure seamless operations and customer satisfaction. They also work with the Inventory Manager to maximize space utilization in the warehouse and streamline travel time for order picking. The team is supervised with a strong focus on customer specifications, quality control, and safety standards.
Human resource management is a significant component of the position, involving training needs assessment, employee coaching, performance evaluations, and administering disciplinary actions where necessary. The Manager regularly reviews team performance to ensure goals are met and fosters a positive and productive workplace environment.
Safety and security management is paramount. The role requires strict adherence to FreshPoint Safe policies to reduce and eliminate injuries, product damage, and equipment loss. The Manager, Outbound independently makes vital decisions such as assigning daily tasks, enforcing safety policies, counseling employees on corrective actions, rejecting inferior quality products, and managing personnel schedules. Decisions affecting headcount and terminations involve review and approval from higher management.
The compensation for this role ranges from $84,900 to $127,300 annually, reflecting the candidate's skills, experience, and other relevant factors in compliance with state-specific laws. Eligible employees may also participate in Sysco's Incentive Plan, adding potential financial benefits tied to performance. Job Requirements
- Associates degree (Bachelor's degree preferred)
- minimum 3 years experience in shipping and receiving perishable products
- at least 1 year supervisory experience
- knowledge of shipping practices and procedures
- able to plan, organize and analyze operational issues
- familiarity with inventory software AS400
- proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel
- able to work nightshift
- authorized to work in the United States
- able to make independent decisions regarding safety and personnel matters
Job Qualifications
- Associates degree (Bachelor's degree in related discipline preferred)
- 3 years operations/warehouse experience in shipping and receiving perishable products
- minimum 1-year supervisory experience or a combination of education, supervisory, and industry experience
- knowledge of shipping practices and procedures
- proficiency in planning, organizing, and analyzing
- knowledge of inventory software (AS400)
- proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel
Job Duties
- Provide technical, customer relations, and personnel management for major programs and projects
- manage all nightshift operations and plan strategies to reduce shrink
- develop and promote goals and objectives while maintaining communication with other departments
- oversee order selection and loading ensuring customer specifications are met
- assess training needs and provide staff training, evaluate performance and provide coaching and disciplinary action
- enforce FreshPoint Safe policies and procedures to ensure safety and reduce injuries, damage and loss
- collaborate with Inventory Manager to maximize slot utilization and optimize travel time for picks
