Job Description
Barr-Nunn Transportation is a well-established dry van truckload carrier founded in 1982. The company operates a sizable fleet comprising approximately 600 tractors and 2,150 trailers. Barr-Nunn Transportation is committed to providing outstanding on-time pickup and delivery services to major e-commerce customers and other companies that demand reliable, punctual service. With an exceptional safety record and award-winning on-time delivery performance, Barr-Nunn has become a stable and profitable operation in the highly competitive trucking industry. The company’s dedication to efficiency and safety has enabled it to build long-term relationships with top-tier shippers and maintain a strong presence in the market.
At Barr-Nunn Transportation, drivers can expect a supportive and rewarding work environment. The company values its drivers and offers a range of benefits and incentives designed to attract and retain top talent. Drivers are given the opportunity to earn competitive pay, with annual earnings ranging from $85,000 to $95,000 depending on experience and endorsements. Pay is based on mileage with rates between 65 and 70 cents per mile, and additional bonuses are available for those with hazardous materials (HAZMAT) endorsements.
This role offers a solo company driving position that provides a consistent schedule — drivers run for 21 days at a time and then have 7 days at home. The freight handled is 100% no-touch dry van truckload, meaning drivers do not need to manually load or unload cargo. Barr-Nunn also supports its drivers by paying for flights home when trucks are parked at designated terminals or reimbursing fuel costs for eligible drivers, enhancing work-life balance and comfort.
Drivers receive numerous additional financial incentives such as transition bonuses (ranging from $1,400 to $1,700 depending on HAZMAT endorsement status), orientation pay, and safety bonuses. These safety bonuses reward accident-free driving and excellent CSA safety records, with opportunities for bonuses every 90 days and additional pay raises at set mileage milestones. Other financial perks include stop-off pay, detention pay, premium pay for hauling placarded HAZMAT (a small percentage of freight), referral program rewards, and annual anniversary bonuses.
Behind the wheel, drivers benefit from access to top-tier equipment. The assigned tractors are late-model Freightliner Cascadia trucks paired with newer 53-foot Wabash trailers equipped with advanced tracking and cargo sensors. These trucks come outfitted with amenities such as a TV, microwave, fridge, inverter, Sirius XM radio, bedding, sheets, pillows, and CB radio to ensure comfort on the road.
Barr-Nunn Transportation continuously invests in technology to improve driver experience, including the Drive Axle smartphone app and Transflo kiosks at truck stops for submitting paperwork and managing payroll efficiently online. Additionally, the company offers Prepass Plus weigh station bypass and toll transponders to reduce downtime on the road.
Working at Barr-Nunn Transportation means joining a company that values safety, reliability, and driver satisfaction. The company supports its drivers with benefits such as health and dental insurance, a strong 401(k) with employer match, and free $10,000 life insurance coverage. Paid weekly wages and accelerated paid time off earned by mileage accumulation further add to the overall appeal.
In summary, Barr-Nunn Transportation offers experienced CDL-A drivers a rewarding career with a respected, long-standing company that prioritizes safety, high pay, excellent benefits, and comprehensive support. The company’s consistent routes, modern equipment, numerous bonuses, and family-focused home time schedule make this an attractive opportunity for professional truck drivers seeking stability and growth.
