Job Description

FedEx, also known as Federal Express Corporation, is a global leader in logistics, offering shipping, transportation, and e-commerce solutions for businesses and consumers worldwide. Established in 1971, FedEx has grown into one of the most recognizable and trusted brands in the delivery and logistics industry. Headquartered in Memphis, Tennessee, the company operates an extensive network, including air and ground transportation, providing reliable and efficient services to its customers. FedEx is renowned for its commitment to innovation, customer service, and fostering a culture that prioritizes safety, quality, and employee well-being.

This frontline supervisor position at FedEx embodies the company's Safety Above All culture, demonstrating the organization's dedication to maintaining a safe and productive work environment. The Operations Supervisor plays a critical role in managing day-to-day operations within a facility, overseeing Package Handlers, and ensuring the smooth, secure, and efficient sortation of packages. The primary responsibility of the Operations Supervisor is to lead and manage an assigned staff to meet operational goals while adhering to safety protocols and company policies. This position supports hiring, training, coaching, and performance management activities, emphasizing employee development and recognition. Supervisors are responsible for organizing workflow, assigning tasks, and monitoring operations to maximize efficiency and quality. They also collaborate with other departments, such as linehaul, to coordinate trailer movement and tracking within the operations.

This position requires not only operational expertise but also strong leadership and communication skills. The Supervisor will conduct daily meetings to facilitate workforce communication, provide updates on operational changes, and set daily objectives. They will also lead employee relations efforts, maintaining confidentiality and implementing strategies that promote a positive work culture. Additionally, the supervisor will oversee safety programs, investigate and resolve customer service issues, and ensure compliance with training requirements across various operational functions.

The role requires a flexible and adaptable individual who can respond quickly to business needs while maintaining a positive and professional demeanor. Supervisors are expected to mentor newer supervisors and deliver consistent coaching to develop essential skills across the team. The position demands physical ability to handle varying environmental conditions such as lifting packages up to 50 pounds and working in temperature extremes or noisy and fume-filled environments.

This role is ideal for individuals who thrive in a leadership capacity within operational settings and are motivated by creating productive teams that prioritize safety and customer satisfaction. FedEx provides comprehensive training and resources to support supervisors in their role and encourages continuous professional development. Employment with FedEx as an Operations Supervisor offers a competitive salary and benefits package, underpinned by the company’s inclusive and equal opportunity employment policy. FedEx welcomes applicants from diverse backgrounds, including veterans and individuals with disabilities, and offers reasonable accommodations to ensure equitable hiring processes.
