We are currently seeking a dedicated Mixing Assistant Lead to join our team at the Van Nuys, CA bakery. This role plays a critical part in ensuring the smooth and efficient operation of the Mixing Department, supporting the Bakery Operations Supervisor in planning, organizing, and coordinating daily department activities especially in the absence of the Lead. The Mixing Assistant Lead is responsible for overseeing dough production to guarantee that all batches meet precise time, temperature, and quality specifications, as well as safety standards. This position requires hands-on leadership to assign tasks, monitor performance, and guide team members to meet and exceed production goals. The successful candidate will ensure ingredient availability, maintain inventory accuracy, and uphold FIFO compliance. A key focus of the role includes frequent quality inspections of dough via visual and tactile methods to preserve consistent product excellence. Additionally, the incumbent will be accountable for accurate, timely production recordkeeping and documentation. Commitment to food safety, sanitation, GMPs, and safe work practices is essential.
The position operates on a first shift schedule from 6:00 AM to 2:30 PM with mandatory availability on weekends. Compensation for this role ranges between $22.00 and $23.75 per hour, reflecting experience, skills, and education. Job Requirements
- High school diploma or GED
- 1-3 months of related manufacturing or food production experience or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Ability to plan, organize, and coordinate work activities in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to communicate clearly and effectively in English verbal and written
- Basic math skills including percentages
- Ability to understand and operate mixing process controls and temperature/scaling systems
- Ability to pull mixing bowls weighing up to approximately 1,000 lbs with wheels
Job Qualifications

- Previous bakery or food manufacturing experience
- Experience leading or training team members
- Working knowledge of GMPs and Lockout/Tagout procedures
- Experience with production documentation and data recording
- Strong problem-solving skills under time and production pressures
Job Duties
- Coordinate and oversee daily Mixing Department operations to ensure efficiency and effectiveness
- Ensure dough batches are prepared accurately to time, temperature, and quality specifications
- Assign, monitor, and guide team members to meet performance and production expectations
- Maintain ingredient availability, inventory accuracy, and FIFO compliance
- Monitor dough quality through visual and physical inspection to ensure consistency
- Ensure accurate, timely completion of all production records and documentation
- Promote and uphold food safety, sanitation, GMPs, and safe work practices
