The role of Operations Support at The J. R. Simplot Company is vital to maintaining and enhancing the efficiency of their agricultural distribution. This position, reporting under general direction, encompasses a broad range of job responsibilities centered on the delivery and handling of fertilizer and chemical products from the retail office level directly to customers. The Operations Support team member will engage in various tasks including customer service, vehicle maintenance, equipment and facility upkeep, and fertilizer blending. This multifaceted role requires a reliable, safety-conscious individual who is comfortable working in a dynamic and sometimes physically demanding environment.
The daily operations include loading and delivering products while ensuring compliance with DOT, OSHA, and Hazmat regulations to uphold the highest safety standards for both employees and customers. The position also involves performing equipment and plant maintenance such as welding, pump and engine overhauls, painting, and general housekeeping duties to maintain optimal operational conditions. Additional responsibilities may include receiving and unloading products, managing warehouse inventory and storage, and organizing the warehouse and yard materials to ensure a clean and efficient workspace.

Job Requirements
- Class A commercial driver’s license (CDL)
- Doubles/Triples endorsement
- HazMat endorsement
- Tanker endorsement
- Applicators license desired but not required
- Must be able to lift a minimum of 50lbs
- Must be willing and able to work Ag-Industry hours, including early mornings, late evenings, overtime as seasonal needs demand, weekends and holidays as seasonal needs demand
- Must have the ability to perform mathematical functions
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
- 1+ years related experience and/or training
- Knowledge of basic farm equipment and operation preferred
- Ability to do a variety of tasks in succession such as blending products together, loading a truck, and driving the truck to a farm
- Ability to accurately and safely operate heavy equipment such as a sprayer/applicator and semi-truck and trailer
- Ability to use a computer including Microsoft Office Suite and Outlook or mobile app
- Ability to learn and manipulate company software
- Ability to effectively communicate both orally and in writing with management, other team members, and customers
Job Duties
- Perform equipment and plant maintenance including welding, pump and engine overhauls, painting, and general housekeeping responsibilities
- Load and deliver fertilizer and chemicals to customers
- Operate equipment to blend fertilizer
- Monitor product application by calculating amounts, calibrating equipment, controlling application rates, and cleaning and storing equipment after application process
- Receive and unload products and perform warehouse inventory and storage functions
- Ensure proper loading and operations of vehicles in compliance with DOT, OSHA, and Hazmat regulations
- Assist with special projects, attend training sessions, provide back-up when needed, and other duties as assigned by supervisor or manager
